1.What is your favorite Christmas carol/song?
"Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "O Holy Night", "Still Still Still" (esp the Mannheim Steamroller version *loves*), and I really love "Grown-Up Christmas List" and other Amy Grant songs
2.White lights or multiciolored?
Colored! White is so BORING. Although my personal tree is fiber-optic... lol
3. Do you have a cut tree, live tree or an artificial tree?
My family always goes and cuts our own tree (usually about 12 feet tall or so), and I have a little fake one that's like two feet tall in my room... and I bought my mom a mini real one this year.
4. Eggnog, mulled cider, or hot chocolate?
EGGNOG!! What what. The other drinks are anytime drinks, but eggnog is the BEST!! Non-alcoholic, of course.
5. Do you decorate your house with lights?
Yeah, but I didn't help this year... it was my mom and Julia I think (and maybe Steven? I was too tired and fell asleep). I usually do my apartment from the inside, except Katie eats the bulbs so none of my strands work anymore.
6. Do you write a Christmas letter?
My family does. I do not personally do so.
7. Do you like receiving Christmas letters/photos?
Of course!
8. What is your favorite Christmas story/movie?
A Christmas Story. LOL that movie is SO great. And I agree with Lyssa, Polar Express was totally lame.
9. Have you ever made a gingerbread house?
Yeah... I think a couple times. Last time was at Brittany's Christmas party freshman year of high school. God, that was such a fun night.
10. Poinsettias or holly?
Holly for sure. Poinsettias are too poisonous. Hahaha.
11. Do you display a nativity scene?
I think we have an ancient one somewhere that we put up.
12. Do you bake Christmas cookies?
I don't personally, but my mom makes some damn good Spritz cookies.
13. Ham or turkey?
Ham. Turkey is a Thanksgiving food.
14. In what languages can you wish someone a Merry Christmas (without cheating)?
Merry Christmas, Fröliche Weinachsten, Mele Kalikimala, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Navidad... okay, I had to look up God Jul. So English, German, Hawaiian, French, Spanish, and sort of Swedish. I'm awesome.
15. Do you know all the words to Jingle Bells?
Hell yeah. I'll prove it.
Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go laughing all the way
Bells on bobtails ring making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight
(chorus) Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh (2x)
A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a ride
And soon miss Fanny Bright was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank, misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank and whee, we got upsot
(chorus)
Now the ground is white, go it while you're young
Take your girl tonight and sing this sleighing song
Just get a bobtail nag, 40 for his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh and Crack! You'll take the lead
(chorus)
I also know three verses to Hark the Herald Angels Sing, three for Deck the Halls, three for We Three Kings (lol, Julia, we should sing it in a round), two to O Holy Night, three to Still Still Still, three to Joy to the World, three to O Come O Come Emmanuel, two to Away in a Manger, four for Silent Night (yeah, you didn't know there WERE four, did you?), the correct version of 12 Days ( it's colly birds, not callING birds... google it, a colly bird is a black bird), four verses to We Wish You A Merry Christmas, two to Little Town of Bethlehem, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I know pretty much every Christmas song and all it's verses... hey, that's what you get when you have two Christmas-loving church choir directors as parents your whole life. I remember in kindergarten being the only one who knew all the verses to Jingle Bells, and my teacher thought I would sing them in front of the class... HAH, I'm too shy! But anyway, I digress.
16. Do you put presents under the tree?
Where else would you put them? Though there usually aren't very many until Christmas Eve
17. How do you eat a candy cane?
I eat the stupid round part first, and bite it off... and then I suck on the stick until it's pointy and could hurt someone, and then I bite off the tip, repeat until gone. I love candy canes.
18. What is your biggest holidays pet peeve?
Having to clean the whole house for the stupid Christmas party, being woken up early to do so, and I used to loathe polishing the brass chandeliers in our old house. WORST CHORE EVER. Seriously. >_<
19. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
It used to be when Julia and I got up at like, 2am and opened our stockings and then played dolls until our parents woke up. We had a system of "first sister up wakes the other" so we could open the stockings and we slept in the same big bed... it was totally awesome. Then a few years ago I became nocturnal and now I don't wake up until like noon, haha.
20. What was the best present you ever got for Christmas?
I gotta say, it's probably still "See it then Sing it", which was a mix CD (the first of three-- third CD's the charm) Andrew made for me with all "our" songs on it.
Also, Katie and Dotty need to learn how to get along. I was woken up at like 8 by Kitty Drama on my bed. *rolls eyes*
LMAO it took exactly an hour from when I started this to when I finished it. I began it at 8:23, took a breakfast break, and it's now 9:23.
