If you're on Facebook and you care about libraries...

Libraries are in trouble all over the country, with dozens of public library branches and even much-needed school libraries being threatened with closure and elimination. If you're on Facebook, consider becoming a Facebook Fan of I Love Libraries, which was created by the American Library Association (ALA), to find out how you can fight back. Thanks :)!

Feel free to pass on this message.

(Yes, that's Taraji P. Henson in the userpic -- that's ALA's new READ poster featuring Taraji, which is spotlighted on the cover of the Summer 2010 ALA Graphics catalog [PDF]. One thing that some people don't know is that you really don't have to be a library to buy a READ poster you like. ANYONE can buy one--and your purchase helps support ALA and its mission to keep libraries open -- everybody wins!! Oh, and if you join the American Library Association, you get a 10% discount off posters -- and that's the other thing not widely known. You don't have to be a librarian or work in a library to join ALA; if you're strictly a user of libraries but want to help support them, you can join ALA as an Associate Member under the Personal Membership at $59/year.)

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...  :)
