Taking a break

Nov 01, 2007 13:01

I am taking a break from writing, I'm about halfway through what I need to write today to be on schedule. I'd prefer to get even more done so that if I do lapse I have a buffer, but still need to take some breaks.

So I was checking my email and came across a video from CNN that was about how much fat and calories some of the food at Italian restaraunts, like Olive Garden, has. I was dumbfounded that this was a newsworthy story. What kind of person does not realize that a heaping plate of pasta with meat, cheese sauce, and then topped with more cheese is not loaded with fat and calories? I may not have known the exact numbers, which are quite high, but I realized instantly that the food is not something you should be eating every day.

Part of it is, of course, the serving sizes that you get in restaurants here in the US. The other part is the ingredients. Obviously you should not go have a huge plate of lasagna every day, probably not even every week, but for most people it would not be all that bad to go and eat once in a while... plus you don't have to eat the entire plate of food in one sitting.

The things people will find to complain about... that is almost as bad as those that have sued for being burnt by hot coffee... what is so hard to understand that unless the coffee is iced it is hot and you should not get it on your skin.
