I just listened to one of the latest This American Life episodes,
Scenes From A Recession, and it helps to remind me how big of an impact this whole thing has had on the world around. Further, it reminds me of how relatively insulated I've been from the crisis. I keep track of the news and regularly listen to
Planet Money, but for the most part, I've been unaffected. I'm astounded that Winstar has seen so little impact from this recession. If there has a been a significant decrease in patronage at the casino, my coworkers and I have not been able to tell. Not only is the casino doing alright, it's still holding monthly job fairs to fill the many staffing holes that it has. This is how I'm able to get into blackjack right now.
It doesn't make sense to me. Nonetheless, especially after listening to programs like that, I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I am being afforded during these difficult times.
