Holy shhhhh. I'll never forgive myself for walking past this CD a million times at the record store without ever checking it out. It's the most amazing thing I've ever heard!!! I sincerely hope I'm not the only dumbass out there who didn't know anything about this before. I really do feel guilty as hell about missing out on it for so long.
All right, some of you guys know that I am very keen on orchestral music - not necessarily classical music, rather instrumental, soundtracky music. Something along the lines of what Apocalyptica does. I love Apocalyptica by the way. ANYWAY, I found this record by the Vitamin String Quartet called The String Quartet Tribute To HIM. Yes, it's pretty much what you would expect: Apocalyptica-ish, instrumentaly covers of some HIM songs. It's GREAT!!! I seriously can't say enough good things about this. I don't have the words for it. Below is the cover artwork for the record. To me, there is no denying that it looks very inspired from the covers of Uneasy Listening. It has to be meant, as none of the covers from String Quartet has that style.
It's really beautiful, isn't it? I really love it :) I don't know if it's meant, but the pink shade looks pretty close to the cover of RR, doesn't it?
Anyway, the best thing about the String Quartet is that it has recorded many, many CDs dedicated to different bands, including tributes to the Foo Fighters, Neil Young, AC/DC, Green Day, Arcade Fire, Black Sabbath, Interpol, Kings Of Leon, Chris Cornell, Depeche Mode, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, A Perfect Circle, Jane's Addiction, etc. There's even one dedicated to Metallica, which intrigues me a lot as Apocalyptica started out doing covers of Metallica songs. I wonder what they came up with. Oh and there's Bon Wovi, too, what more can you ask! You can listen to loads of the String Quartet's songs on YouTube, which is great!! Now you know what I'll be up to for the next couple of days ;) As of now, I've listened to covers of Interpol (Obstable 1), Green Day (Wake me up when september ends) and Foo Fighters (Everlong, All my life) mostly. I love everything I've heard so far!
Here is a list of the cover CDs they've done:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_String_Quartet To be honest with you, I am craving this band so much that I'm restraining myself as hard as I can so not to go and buy every fucking CD of theirs that's available at my music store.
There you go. I COMMAND you to listen to some of this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c4bDfh6fgs (J.I.M.) --> I don't think it's a HIM song, but it does sound inspired. It's good!
