Hey sweeties. Since things have been going pretty slow lately and I’m getting depressed because of the lack of HIM related news (and everlong absence of Ville), I wanted to share with you some more joyful stuff such as what I think about every HIM era and what my HIM journey has been like. Please feel free to comment and give feedback on that ( Read more... )

First of all, I have to tell you that your comments about the albuns were well said and extremely good to read.
Was also weird, because while I was reading, in most of parts seemed I was reading my own suposed post. Specially in the "For You" and "Sleepwalking Past Hope" comments. That's cool.

So.. let's go to my own opinion about the albuns:

666 Ways To Love: Prologue
It's my little love. And when I say I love it, it's because everything on the EP is simply perfect. The way Ville sings, his accent, the guitar riffs, the raw sound. I can say, with no doubt, that I really love The Heartless in the EP version. Specially in that part that the GLS doesn't show us "You're the one for me, lady - Together we shall be till the end - [...] Don't listen to the one with the heart - Is tearing you apart - [...] You know what that means - He's not the man of your dreams" ...And the story behind this lyrics is funny, too. And, oh my dear God, what is the Dark Secret Love song? Is one of the most perfect song I've ever heard. I'd have to create new love words to describe that song.
I think I said everything when I tell that I love, in special, the raw sound. That's the key word to describe the whole EP.

Greatest Lovesongs Vol.666
I love it so, so much... I can listen GLS for months, just this album, none other, and nevertheless I will beg for more.
I like the title. As Ville said: it's ironic, because was a debut album of a band that its members was composed just for young guys with none expirience about love. And has the greatest lovesongs, indeed. But in the Ville's melodramatic way. That's the charm of the album.
"For You" the song I most love in my life. It has everything I could wish listen in just one song: a kind of heavy metal on the guitar; the agony of that girl - the same that sing (Don't Fear) The Reaper - like she was screaming or begging for something; the lyrics, of course "My heaven is wherever you are", that's so deep, that even crush my heart every time I listen to; the melody, in general; and, the most important, the way I'm feel while listening it. And it makes me wonder if I am some sort of sentimental masochist, because I get depressed with For You. And inspite this fact, I find and caught to me power to go ahead. It's the love of the song.
I won't go into details about the other songs, because the post will be to much longer. So, I really love every song in the GLS. That's all.

Razorblade Romance
I like Poison Girl, Join Me, Razorblade Kiss. Yes, I like it. It's a way too pop to me, but I still like it. I think is a European version of the comercial Dark Light in America. But the only thing that makes me don't say that this album is indifferent to my taste, is the presence of Burry Me Deep Inside Your Heart. I don't know what I'd say if someone ask me why I love this song so much. It's pretty simple, lyrics are too, and melody is not like a Venus Doom thing, for exemple. But it's a song that makes me feel in peace, that calms me down. And it's enough to me.
I can't forget to mension that Gone With The Sin single is my favourite: contains the orchestra version of the titled song, that is amazing. And has the Arena Berlin live version of Burry Me Deep Inside Your Heart, too. That gig was the most perfect, in my opinion! *shinning eyes*

Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights
I l-o-v-e the whole album. The songs are so cute and so adorable. And the first song that come to my mind when the chat is about DSBH is Beautiful. Best song of the album. And another song with a interesting story, isn't it? I don't know why people judge this song as boring. I love it! U.U
I also like Love You Like I Do, it has a special place in my heart.

Love Metal
This album is special because makes me recall good times. Makes me think in my mom, too. Love Metal is her favourite album - Yes, she's a great HIM's fan, and was she who introduced me to HIM, by the way -, so I will always think in her when I listen any LV's song. That's makes it special.
Funeral Of Hearts was the first HIM's song I've heard, together with my mom. I can remember exactly the excited expression of my mom, wishing I fell in love with HIM, as she did. But I didn't give a damn. And my mom tried over and over again, until the time I realized that HIM became a big part of me. Thank you so much, mom! ♥

And Love Said No
Solitary Man cannot miss on my iPod.

Dark Light
The only song that I really like, or love, is Behind The Crimson Door. The other is indifferent to me. I mean, I listen it and I like it. But doesn't matter if I pass a long time without listen them. HIM sold itself for the U.S media, and it makes the HIM music changed significantly.

Venus Doom
You said basicaly everything I think about VN. Sleepwalking Past Hope, Cyanide Sun and Venus Doom are really important to me. I can't survive without listening, at least, one time per day these songs.
And I would say the same thing about the depressed mood of the album and the Ville's emotional issues. It's sad. But this sadness gave us the best HIM's album.

Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice
The 80's pop is the only pop I dare to listen. It's really nice and hearable. I enjoy it a lot. My parents gave me this taste, and I'm very proud of it.
Another think that makes me have a really love with that era, was the fact that my mom also gave me the taste for Deathrock, Goth80's and rock music, in general. Everything releated in that decade.
This album there's pretty much of the best things of that decade. A mix of all good stuff. And it made me fell in love with Screamworks.
At first, I was stunned about the idea of such different music that HIM showed to us. But then I fell in love.
The acoustic version on Baudelaire in Braille of the In Venere Veritas and Heartkiller is all I need to have a good day.

And now, I'm waiting for a new ''hard/heavy/gloomy" stuff. I think they've done enough music in a way more pop, isn't it? LOL

And sorry about the longest comment ever HAHA

Don't be sorry dear, I enjoyed reading your comments ;)

And that's nice that you make me wanna listen to the early albums now :P I've been so obsessive compulsive with the two last ones that I am not that familiar with 666 ways to love and DSL. Like Ville said about Julian Plenti's Only If You Run, when I really like a song, I listen to it to death XD I'm currently listening to Dark Secret Love and I realize that the reason why I might not like the record as much as Venus Doom is because the pace is way slower, and I kinda like the really rough sounding guitar riffs. You know the same way Apocalyptica recreates some epic riffs from Metallica by playing low cords on the cello really fast. You know with a bit more bass sound I guess. Now that I listen to it, 666 ways to love, I have to agree that the guitar doesn't sound as polished as it does in RR or even Screamworks. It's a good thing! And now that I've fixed my iTunes settings, Linde's guitar sounds even better on the early version of Wicked Game.

And yeah you said it right, about RR. It does look like a european pop record compared to the "americanized" Dark Light. The more I listen to it, the more 80s it sounds to me. It completely suits the album cover and vice versa. And seriously I agree with you about feeling nearly indifferent to Dark Light. That's exactly why I'd pick any other album over it.

Really? *-*
Well, I love the old stuff, because they seem to be inocent. I mean, they just made music by heart, without pressure [or a lot of pressure] of the record or the media. HIM needs another dose of it. I'm worry if the next album will be forced, you know? Ville was not happy with Screamworks, and I think he will try to make something new focusing in get a better outcome and forget that music is not a competition.

Now, I wish I could get a copy of 666 Ways To Love. I can't die without get one. O.O
lmao

Well you know what to do, Ville said every band member's mother was asked to buy 5 copies of the record when it came out. So he said if you ever see a copy on eBay or something, it's probably someone's mother trying to make as much money out of it as possible XD
