What's a HIM fan supposed to "be like"? I got and still get this reaction of disbelief when some people know I listen to and enjoy HIM. I don't like it and I don't like the fact that before I really listened, I was turned off by things that really had nothing to do with the music.
Are "supposed to" only like metal? Have I sinned because I bought the old remastered Rolling Stones album, High Tide and Green Grass? Or because I listened to Copeland for over an hour while drawing. And went to the Young Veins, Foxy Shazam show in Atlanta?
I'm not mad, or trying to make this a big issue, but really think the less we categorize and the more kinds of music we enjoy, the better our lives will be. AND we can do something to keep the music business healthy ( or help it get well)
.Forgot to mention that, oops, I have a Shakespeare quote on my wrist, instead of a heartagram. Not from being a big Shakespeare lover, some is good, some is crap to me. V did inspire it though, with his When I Love, I Love. Words to live by. Jeremy fiddled with it on his computer a lot, getting the letters small enough, but I'm really happy with it.
i agree, im like you abit, at college these girls didnt believe me that i liked HIM because i want to go into fashion, or photography and i like to wear colour, they told me i wasnt a true him fam and i laughed and i was just like whatever, :) xxx
Totally with you. I really dislike the whole 'real HIM fan' crap that gets put out on the internet. I'm not goth, I wear colors other than black, I listen to just about every type of music at least to some extent. Does that make me less of a HIM fan? Considering I bust my ass for this band those that would say 'yes' can kiss my ass. :)
I think it's awesome that this singer was wearing a HIM shirt. Whether we like her particular style of music we know she has good taste in what she listens to on her off time. :)
I agree. I mean Ville and the other guys aren't only wearing black aren't they? For me they're just wearing what they like and in which they feel comfortable. I personally like clothes in a certain "rock-style" but normally I just wear like I "feel" (does that make sense?) Oh, and I like T-shirts with cool sayings on it. When I have an idea for it, I just "make" them myself, so I have T-shirts with the titles of some of my favorites books or quotes or HIM-stuff on them... I also like other musicians and bands (for example Mika, who is quite different to HIM) but HIM is the only band I can listen a hundred times again and again :)Their music fits at any moment.
About your t-shirts, I do that a lot too. I've made more than one with the icon I used on this reply, it's the name of a Firesign Theater album and it's so much fun to wear, because people see it and some actually look offended. They think I'm saying that to them, apparently. I also have a few from old ticket stubs, one being a Led Zepplin one from around '70 or '71 $6 admission.
These months, it's too hot here for t shirts, 101 yesterday. You wear as little as possible, and bring something to layer in the freezing buildings. And my arms are always cold.
Oh, that's pretty cool!!! Until now I just got few reactions to my Shirts. Just my French teacher and my friends noticed that I was wearing a Baudelaire-T-shirt (they know I admire his poetry and that I like HIM too). And one time I walked into a bookshop and they recognized my T-shirt was actually a book title. I think I'm gonna post some pictures of my ones here if I have some more. If you like you could to that too, I'm looking forward to admire your work :)
Yes, you do bust your ass for them and do it with a lot of grace and "class". I believe your words matter and impact a lot of people and that's one reason your interviews with V and other members of HIM go beyond the interview norm. They know you're for them, but that there will be interesting and even challenging discussion.
You know I'm a big admirer of yours, but you are in a fairly unique position. You give them a lot of exposure and you've proved yourself to be trustworthy without being boring or over the top fangirlish.
It's pretty significant, I've always thought, that some important information regarding the music was released to you first. I envy you being able to do this, but know it took workand didn't just happen. So, again, thanks
