CHAPTER 8
Kyuhyun was on the ground with a sword impaled into his stomach. Blood was coming out of it, and blood was trickling down his mouth. A fire was burning behind him, and Kangin was there. His wings were spread, his wings were struck by the branches and he was struggling to get out as he was burning. Shindong was on the ground, panting with his eyes bleeding. Kibum and Eunhyuk were flying in the air, one on one side of the cave, and one on the other. Siwon stood in the center of the cave’s entrance, his wings wide open, cuts decorating his torso and his face.
“Two demons down,” Siwon smirked and looked at Shindong, “and fatso is coming soon.”
Behind Siwon, hiding in the darkness, Heechul was shaking in fear. His hand was on his mouth. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and all that was running in his mind was that Siwon was protecting him.
‘That’s right, Heechul,’ Siwon licked his lips, ‘be more dependent on me. Be more scared. Feed me more!’ He laughed and looked at Kibum who was glaring at him. “I thought that you were supposed to keep Hankyung safe.”
Kibum looked towards where the fire was coming, and there, near the fire and unscathed by it, was Hankyung who was limping towards them. Kibum shouted, “Moron!” Kibum flapped his wings to dive towards Hankyung, and it gave Siwon an opening. The fallen angel manifested two swords into his hands, and a burning branch lengthened itself and threw itself towards Kibum. Kibum flew away from it, flying away from Hankyung. Shindong jumped towards Siwon, calling onto his arrows and pointing it towards Siwon. As for Eunhyuk, he dove into the ground and disappeared into it. Shindong fired his arrow towards Siwon, and Siwon deflected it with his sword. However, Eunhyuk came rushing up from the ground underneath Siwon. Eunhyuk managed to take Siwon by surprise that Siwon flew into the air, his swords falling out of his hands and disappearing. Kibum turned away from Hankyung and charged at Siwon, a sword appearing at his hand. Siwon saw Kibum coming, and he disappeared. Kibum stopped in his flight and screamed, “Where is he?!”
Shindong gasped, “Hankyung!”
Everyone looked at Hankyung and saw Siwon behind the man. He had his arms around Hankyung’s waist, both swords crossed against one another and against Hankyung’s skin.
“No!” Kyuhyun screamed, “Constantine, don’t do it! You need to stop! You’ll create imbalance in all the three worlds!”
Siwon laughed. “You know that you can’t defeat me if Hankyung is dead.”
Kangin’s screaming became louder. The flames of the fire were growing.
“Are you wondering why he’s hurting?” Siwon whispered to Hankyung. “I found a way to kill immortals!”
Eunhyuk jumped into the ground again, but Siwon saw him that Siwon stomped his foot into the ground and Eunhyuk came flying out.
“You can’t even touch me!” Siwon bellowed, and then something caught his eye. Heechul was standing in front of the cave’s entrance, his eyes wide open and his body trembling.
“Heechul!” Hankyung screamed. “Get out of he-”
Siwon uncrossed the swords and slit Hankyung’s neck, leaving only the middle part intact. His eyes immediately lost its life, his soul leaving his body. He fell to the ground, blood oozing from his skin and creating a puddle underneath Hankyung’s body.
Hankyung was dead.
“No!” Heechul screamed and fell on his knees. Kangin was burning that he couldn’t see what was happening. Kyuhyun pulled harder on the sword that was impaled into his stomach. Kibum raised his sword in the air and charged at Siwon. Shindong flew farther and aimed his arrow. Eunhyuk, who was flying into the ground, unleashed his wings and flew to Siwon.
“You’re all too slow!” Siwon shouted in horrible glee, his eyes wide open in madness. “I am your new god, now!” Shindong released his arrow. Just when the arrow, Kibum and Eunhyuk were about to reach Siwon, Siwon flew in the air. He was fast, too fast, that the arrow missed him. Kibum and Eunhyuk were too surprised that they stopped in their flight and looked up. Siwon was heading towards Heechul.
Heechul stayed on his knees. His eyes were open in fear. Siwon was laughing in a maniacal way, his eyes still growing wide with madness. His eyes were glowing again, but not in red and gold, but in red and red -pure, bloody, scarlet red. Heechul was too scared to move. He just kneeled there, still, his heart beating fast. Siwon aimed his sword at Heechul and screamed, “It’s time to join your ange-”
Siwon came stumbling onto the ground beside Heechul. Heechul fell to his side, his arms covering his eyes. He looked at Siwon and saw Siwon’s face pushed to the ground. On top of him, Hankyung had his hand on Siwon’s face -Hankyung, alive, was pushing, crushing, Siwon’s face onto the ground. Hankyung’s eyes were glowing in a magnificent and pure golden color. His shirt was ripped and hanging on his arms. His back was exposed, and two great wings were coming out of his back. His wings were of the purest white but it glittered in gold. His wings were long and huge, bigger that Siwon’s. Heechul was confused, scared, that he crawled back.
“What?” Kibum muttered.
Kyuhyun removed the sword that was impaled on his stomach and pointed that sword to Kangin. “Get him free, you bastards!” He coughed out blood. “Julian’s back! Go and free Kangin! He’ll take care of Constantine!”
Heechul blinked and looked at Kyuhyun. ‘Julian? Constantine?’ He looked at Siwon who was groaning in pain, and Hankyung who was gritting his teeth in anger. He then looked at the burning demon, Kangin, and saw that he was being helped by Kibum, Shindong, and Eunhyuk, out of the flames.
“No one touches Heechul!” Hankyung grabbed Siwon’s neck and pulled him up by it. Siwon grabbed Hankyung’s arms. He was being choked, and he felt the pain of it. He was supposed to be immortal, and invincible to all attacks, from mortals and immortals. “Also, no one touches me!” He pushed manifested his sword. “No one betrays the Heavens!” He pushes the sword into Siwon’s stomach. Siwon coughed, the blood coming out, but it was a mix of red and black. Heechul gasped and covered his mouth. The demons managed to free Kangin and brought him to Kyuhyun. Shindong stayed with the two injured demons while Kibum and Eunhyuk flew to Hankyung.
“I’m betraying the Heavens?” Siwon coughed out blood again as he shook from the sword and from Hankyung’s hand. “Look at you! You’re siding with demons!”
“I don’t give a damn! I don’t even give a damn about cursing now! So fuck off!” Hankyung screamed. He pushed Siwon down on the floor and twisted the sword that was in Siwon’s stomach. Siwon screamed in pain and Hankyung clicked his tongue. “It is so hard to kill someone like you.”
“I’m a damn immortal!” shouted Siwon.
Hankyung looked at Kibum, “The barrier is weakening. Try opening a gateway to Hell right now. As you try to open it, you’ll be weakening the barrier even more.”
“No!” Siwon screamed as he held the sword. Kibum turned and moved a few feet away. He opened his arms and started chanting in Latin with a low tone of voice. Heechul crawled farther away as Kibum’s voice scared him. Siwon begged, “Don’t do it! I beg of you!”
Kyuhyun coughed out blood. He held his bleeding stomach as Shindong tried to heal Kangin’s burnt skin. Kyuhyun told Shindong, “When Constantine killed human Hankyung, he turned back to his angel self because his soul is that of an angel. Since an angel needs his abilities, Hankyung’s soul forcibly sucked his powers from Siwon and back to him. Between Constantine and Julian, Julian is much more powerful.”
Shindong asked, “How do you know this?”
Kyuhyun turned to where Hankyung was killed, and there was Hankyung’s body, cold and dead.
“Fucking shit,” Shindong cursed. "Wait, we were just trying to protect Hankyung. Did you just realize this shit now?"
Kyuhyun nodded.
Shindong scowled. "We could have just killed Hankyung earlier and escape this shit!"
Back to Hankyung and the others, Eunhyuk was kneeling beside Siwon. He had his hand on top of Siwon’s chest. He narrowed his eyes, his eyes glowing in red. “You do know that Donghae is still there inside of you.” He grabbed Siwon’s chest and he screamed. Slowly, Siwon’s hair started to turn blond.
“Go kill that bastard!” Kyuhyun screamed from the place where he laid. “He’s turning to his real form!” He has none of Julian’s powers now!”
Siwon arched his back. His mouth opened and out came a dark smoke. Heechul gasped and stood up, taking more steps backwards. From the dark smoke came out a demon, with black wings and dark eyes.
“Donghae,” Eunhyuk groaned as he kept his hand on Siwon’s chest. “Get the fuck out of there!” Quickly, Donghae flew up into the sky and Eunhyuk pulled his hand away. “That was hard!” He glared at Siwon whose eyes started to change shape. “What’s happening?” Eunhyuk turned to Kyuhyun, “Yo, jackass, what do we do now?”
“Wait for Kibum to open the portal!” Kyuhyun shouted as Shindong turned to him to heal his wound. “Constantine’s returning to his form! You can’t kill him because he’s immortal! Separate him from Siwon’s body or else that human will die!”
“What?” said Eunhyuk. “Why are you so worried about humans?”
Hankyung glared at Eunhyuk, “Because I’ll leave right now and let Constantine devour all of you! At least your jackass friend knows that!” Donghae flew down to Hankyung
“Keep your hands on the sword,” said Donghae. He stretched his hands and drove his hand into Siwon’s chest. Constantine gasped and lost his voice. Donghae squinted his eyes and gritted his teeth. He looked at Eunhyuk and screamed, “Help me, you bastard!” And so Eunhyuk cracked his knuckles and drove both of his hands into Siwon’s chest. His face also contorted.
“The barrier’s weakening faster!” Shindong screamed as he hand his hands over Kyuhyun’s wound. “Keep doing it!”
Then the barrier broke. The portal to Hell opened, and both Donghae and Eunhyuk brought out Constantine from Siwon. The sword that was impaled on Siwon’s body followed Constantine, and as the sword left Siwon’s body, Siwon’s body immediately healed and he was unconscious. Constantine was struggling against the sword that held him up, and struggling against Donghae and Eunhyuk’s hands.
Kibum looked at them, “Throw the bastard in the portal! He won’t get out once he’s in!”
The three, Hankyung, Donghae and Eunhyuk, flew to the portal. Constantine, a blond angel with the features of a Caucasian, screamed and thrashed. He kicked and punched, but the three who held him ignored him and took his hits. Upon reaching the portal, Constantine screamed in fear. The fires of Hell were burning, and in the middle of it all was the man who was going to punish him.
“No! Don’t put me there! I’ll change! I’ll change!” Constantine looked up. “Forgive me! I’ll repent!”
“Too late!” Hankyung shouted and threw Constantine into the portal. Constantine screamed and threw his hand to Hankyung, but then the portal closed. Kibum then flew, followed by Eunhyuk and Donghae. They flew over to the fire and started to extinguish it.
“Humans are going to come soon!” Kibum shouted as he turned to Shindong, Kangin, and Kyuhyun, “Go back home right now and get their wounds healed, Shindong!” Shindong nodded and opened a portal. He carried Kangin on shoulder, Kyuhyun on the other, and jumped into the portal. The three, Kibum, Eunhyuk, and Donghae, worked to end the fire.
Hankyung watched. He felt powerful, and he felt unsure. He felt accomplished that he managed to defeat Constantine, but there was one more thing he needed to defeat: his heartbreak. He looked at Heechul and saw Heechul cradling Siwon’s head on his lap. Heechul was crying and looking at him. Hankyung didn’t know what to do, and so he said, “I’m sorry.” He looked at Siwon and gestured to him. “He’s still alive, and he doesn’t have a crazed angel inside of him.” He then looked up for he heard someone calling him. He listened to the voice, and then he looked back at Heechul. “I need to go now,” he shed a few tears. “I love you, Heechul. I’ll always be your angel.” Hankyung looked back into the Heavens. His wings opened and he flew up into the night sky. Heechul watched him and his tears fell faster. The farther Hankyung went, the more Hankyung disappeared, the more he cried. The more his heart tore into two. He had Siwon on his lap, but he wanted Hankyung.
When humans started to arrive, Kibum flew to Hankyung’s body and carried it. He flew back to Donghae and Eunhyuk he flew to Heechul and Siwon.
“Look,” said Kibum. “We’re not going to hurt you. Right now, humans can’t see us and we just put a spell so that they can’t see you.”
Heechul looked at Hankyung’s dead body. He sobbed. “That’s Hankyung.”
“It’s his human body,” said Kibum. “Constantine turned him human and Constantine killed his human body.”
“You’re demons,” said Heechul. “Why did you help stop the fire?” but the fire was still there, but much smaller than earlier.
“It’s a special fire,” said Donghae. “We just removed the special in it. The special in it is that it can’t be extinguished by humans and it can kill immortals. It’s a normal fire now.”
The screams of humans flew in the air.
“Come on,” Donghae reached his hand to Heechul. “I’ll carry you and Eunhyuk will carry Siwon. We owe a lot to Julian.”
Kibum glanced at Donghae. “He knows Julian as Hankyung.”
Heechul sobbed and gave Donghae his hand.
Somewhere in Hell, as Kyuhyun was lying on his bed, Shindong was clicking his tongue.
“What’s bothering you?” Kyuhyun asked Shindong.
“What if Hankyung finds out that you lied to him about Heechul and Siwon being meant for each other?” asked Shindong. “Do you see how he managed to bring down Constantine while he had Donghae’s powers in control? He did it in one hit. Hankyung could roast you like how Constantine roasted Kangin.”
Kyuhyun shrugged his shoulders. “He’s an angel. He won’t look for revenge.”

Two years later, it was Heechul’s graduation day. He had dinner with his family, and he had a night out with his friends. Siwon also graduated, but he wasn’t in the family dinner or with Heechul’s party with his friends. They broke up a week before graduation.
Since the battle, Heechul and Siwon stayed in a relationship. Kyuhyun was right that Siwon’s memories merged with Constantine and that Siwon really was in love with Heechul. Heechul too was in love. The two never talked about the battle, though, or about angels or demons, because Siwon could not remember anything about it. After a year of being together, Heechul started to fall out of love. A few months after that, Siwon too started to fall out of love. The two tried to work it out, but it failed and the two ended the relationship.
As Siwon could not remember anything about angels or demons, Siwon could not remember Hankyung. Hankyung, however, never left Heechul’s mind. Heechul thought of Hankyung whenever he ate, and thought of Hankyung whenever he would see birds flying in the air. There was not a day that passed that Heechul did not think of Hankyung. In Heechul’s dreams, Hankyung would often be there. At least once a month, Heechul would go to the cave where Hankyung was kept in. Inside the cave was the cremated remains of Hankyung’s human body.
Heechul was in love with Hankyung.
When Heechul came home that night after a night of partying, he saw food on the table. He smiled and said, “I’m too drunk!” He laughed. He closed the door and entered his room where he saw Hankyung, sitting on his bed and smiling at him. Hankyung was wearing jeans and a shirt. No wings behind his back. Heechul gasped, but then he laughed. “I really am drunk!” He plopped himself beside Hankyung and said, “goodnight, Hankyung! I love you!” and he fell asleep.
When Heechul woke up, he groaned and stood up. “I drank too much. I was hallucinating.” He coughed and stretched his arms. The bones on his back cracked and he yawned. “That feels good!” When he walked out into the living room, he stopped in his tracks because he saw Hankyung cooking.
“Hey!” Hankyung smiled at Heechul. “I’m back.”
“Oh, shit,” Heechul took a step back. “Am I still drunk?”
Hankyung turned the oven off and turned to Heechul. “No. I’m human, Heechul.” He outstretched his hands. “I had a horrible life, and I managed to defeat Constantine and save the world -and you,” Hankyung’s smile softened. “I was given a chance to be human again. I know what you’re going to ask,” he raised his finger up. “What would happen if I die -well, I’ll turn back to being an angel. I was given this chance because He knew that I wanted to be here. I just didn’t take the offer earlier because of Siwon. Now that the time is right, I’ve returned.”
Heechul walked to Hankyung. “What if I die?”
“I asked if He could bring you to Heaven so that it won’t matter which one of us dies first. We’ll both be there in the end,” he opened his arms. “The stories of Heaven and Hell are placed at extremes. People worry about it too much. Just be happy, that’s all you need and you will find your own Heaven and Heaven will let you enter its gates.”
Heechul went into Hankyung’s arms and Hankyung embraced him. Heechul placed his hand on Hankyung’s chest and said, “You are my happiness; you are my Heaven.”
Hankyung pecked Heechul’s forehead. “And you are mine. Like what I told you before, I am your angel. I’ll forever be your angel.” He leaned towards Heechul and placed a soft kiss on Heechul’s lips.
