Beware the Scammer - Major Rant

My husband was contacted by a scammer today. The caller sounded so legitimate saying they were from Publisher's Clearing House and not asking for personal information on the phone. It almost worked until they asked to have money wired to them to "take care of the Tax Issues." The main rule to remember, If someone from PCH actually asks for money to help push a prize through, THEN IT'S A SCAM. As soon as they ask for money, back away and call it in as a fraud. They will try and be convincing and give you all these reasons why you need to send them money, don't believe them. They will also say that they will stay on the phone with you as you do what they ask. Again, don't believe them. Per look up from PCH's own website, if the caller asks for money for any reason, then they are not from PCH and you are being scammed. Scammers need to be stopped. Scammers prey on the hopes of those that just want to believe in a miracle that they can get out of the financial hole that, no matter what they seem to do, just gets bigger and bigger.
It just irritates me when there are people who use the kindness and hope of the victims against themselves for a quick buck. It pisses me off. I'm mad because, while we didn't fall completely into their lie, it still raised our hopes up for just a moment, and then I think, what if the next person they get a hold of believes them completely and pays them what ever it takes to get their prize only to loose everything.
I'm about over it now, but it still really makes me mad. Makes me glad that I usually ignore most phone numbers I don't recognize and if they don't leave a message, well, then I can't call back and they can't scam me.
