I survived Art Fundementals 1

Jul 13, 2015 12:29

I did it, I passed Art 1. I even passed with a solid A. Now if I can pass Art 2, but that's not til next month. This month we're finally into 3D. So far, I've got a lovely collection of Lamp posts.

Still, even though it got boring doing the same commands over and over again, I still love what I ended up creating. At the end of this month, I'll have to create a 6-second video using the props and character that I created. first prop was a chair, the character I'll need to create is a humanoid and will have to rig it to move. Let me tell you, I'm having more fun with this class than I did with Art 1, but that was mainly because I was freaking out over the fact that as far as I'm concerned, my drawings suck. But I think I finally figured out that the teachers were mainly looking for the fact if I understood the concepts or not, not necessarily if my drawings were top notch since that's not what I'm going for. I just need to be able to draw enough to get an idea and a reference for what I want the 3D to look like. At least I hope it's that way when I get to Art 2. And the only downside I'm running into with 3DF at the moment is all the videos I have to watch. I do NOT have the most comfortable chair to watch videos on in front of my computer and if I take the laptop out to the good chairs in the living room to watch the videos, I'm likely to fall asleep, and no matter how hard I try, I can't learn from sleep learning.
Anyway, not much happened other than that this past month. Set off fireworks for July 4th with friends, watched the new Mad Max movie and was impressed how good it turned out. After that, just did my best to pass Art 1. I will say, I had fun drawing perspectives in Art 1. Drawing tetris blocks in 3D was the best drawings I did for the whole month, I thought. I take that back, I did have fun with the story in silhouettes project. For the Whoivans out there, I did the ending of Doomsday, got an A+ since the way it was done, even if you don't know the actual story, you still get the impression that it's a tragedy and the general idea that boy and girl are separated. I guess if you want to see what I consider viewable to the public, you can go here: My Viewable work folder. I'll stick stuff in there I'll either mention or think is worthy of people other than me looking at it.
Ok, long post again. See you next month for updates and/or other things.
