I had such a good time yesterday. As usual, we stayed home NYE. I was asleep by 10:30. My friend, Andrea, had called and wanted us to come over yesterday to watch football (my beloved Gamecocks were playing in the Outback Bowl -- they SUCKED!!) and Andrea was cooking black-eyed peas and since none of us like collards, she made some green bean cassarole and an asparagus dish that was DIVINE! Russell cooked a lovely pork roast on the grill and some boneless ribs. I had made a cowboy caviar (which incidently contains no caviar!) and we ate and watched football and ate and watched some more football. They are all beer drinkers, so while they were drinking beer, I was drinking water and talked all the drunks into letting me color their hair!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!
Yes, much fun was had by all yesterday. I haven't gotten any nasty emails or phone calls or legal summons, so I assume everyone was cool what we did.
Before they got too sauced, we went on the computer and booked a tacky beach house for the first full week of August at Edisto. The same house we went to this (2008) year before we went to see Springsteen.
http://www.edistorealty.com/rentals/details.php?id=166 This is the house and we love it because it IS so tacky. Well, that and it allows pets. I claimed the Tiki Hut, the little bedroom under the house which is all kinds of private as my own in exchange for being chief cook and bottle washer. I love feeding folks, so that will take some of the heat off Andrea for thinking up and implementing meals. ANYway, I am all excited about this and have eight months to dwell on how much fun we are going to have, and also to unload 20 pounds off my big ass. I plan to look like a HOT MOMMA when I go in August, despite the fact that I will have recently celebrated my 60th birthday. Shit, it's just a number!!
I will post the "Daddy's FINE!" story later. It will make you spew liquids from your nose, I promise!!
