I was feeling like crap last week and actually took off work early on Wednesday and went straight home to bed. I ran a 102 temp that night and stayed in bed all day Thursday. Better on Friday, but not by much. This is the same shit Russ brought home to me last year around this time from the hospital where he is still working. That would not seem so strange to most of you, but in the 28 years I have known him, been married to, divorced from, lived with, lived without, loved, hated, felt apathetic to this man, he has never kept a job this long. The first year we were married, he filed seventeen W-2s. Construction is the kind of work you work yourself OUT of, he is fond of telling anyone who will listen. I suppose that's mostly so, particularly commercial construction. The gig at Baptist Medical Center is turning out to be a pretty long one, as soon as one portion of the renovation is complete, they begin another. So he has been on this site for sixteen months now. ANYway, my point was that he was at the same location this time last year and made me sick with whatever he brought home. He was sick with it week before last, and I tried hard to stay away from him, but alas, it did no good and I got it anyway. The only good thing about it was it didn't hang around long. Several people have told me they swear my Zicam, the little swabs you use when you first think are coming down with a cold. Any testimonials from my LJ friends?
I have finished all my Christmas shopping. All the shopping I keep saying I'm not going to do anymore. Can't help it. I love giving even if it is only trinkets. Most of the people I gift are trinket-lovers, so it works out okay.
Tuesday, the Court treated its employees to a nice catered lunch from Shealy's BarBeQue of Batesburg. It is about the most well known barbeque around these parts, and if you haven't had a belly ache from the creamed corn and green beans, you just haven't enjoyed Shealy's! No bonus this year, but the lunch was a nice treat, and at least we have permanent jobs. I feel pretty secure knowing that as long as people break the law and go to prison, they will file appeals and I will therefore be employed.
Happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy Hannukah, cool Yule, kwazy Kwanzaa, whatever makes you happy -- celebrate it!
