1st at home Thanksgiving

Nov 26, 2008 13:44

So this will be our first Thanksgiving at home in eight years.  Every year we have been running up the road to Virginia where I would spend two or three days cooking for my sister and her family.  Well, she has moved back to South Carolina now and I will be cooking only for my husband and son and GiGi tomorrow.  But eat like royalty, yes we will.  I will be preparing an apple-basted turkey breast over roasted vegetables and dressing, lemon-buttermilk mashed Yukon Gold potatos, fresh green beans with grape tomatos, cranberry-Granny Smith apple compote, pumpkin & sweet potato pie, and Russ is smoking a turkey outside with fresh oyster stuffing.  Yes, all that for just us, but I won't be cooking again until this time next week.  Left-overs is da bomb at my house.  I love having left-overs because it means I can take lunch to work and not have to eat out.

I still have not found the motivation to paint or wallpaper my main bathroom.  I just don't know what goes with 1960s mint green tile.  I have used navy, white, tan, khaki, and brown and I don't really like any of those combinations.  Any suggestions for updating an old bathroom on a really limited budget?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, friends, and remember that despite what we don't have, we all have a great deal for which to be thankful!

family, holiday happiness
