The groups splits, and three hours later, one part does not return to the meeting point.
This is reason to raise alarm

*Varda's attention has wandered in the last couple of hours, something she thinks might be a lingering affect of her recent insanity. She does notice however when Elrond regroups, worried about something.*

What's wrong?

It wasn't me who did it, it seems some of my family decided to do a bit of work on the place before I came back.
I think they were a little conserned about making the place over to be such a reminder of Valinor they also decided to put a guard measure around it. I didn't really listen very hard to the song Irmo left amongst the trees - it doesn't effect me anyway - but it'd likely send someone to sleep if they linger too long.

That may be what happened to your guardsmen.

*Returns an hour later with a still sleeping Elros in her arms.*

Sorry for taking so long, Elros was further upstream than I expected and Ulmo decided to be annoying while I was looking.

I moved the guards to their rooms, they should wake up in a little while. Elros however has been under the influence of Irmo's enchantment for longer, it'll take some sort of encouragement to get awake though I don't doubt you could supply it.
