Disappointing

For the last two years I've peripherally follow the news on Meredith Kercher's murder and the subsequent trials of her three convicted murderers. And while it does seem like the evidence against Amanda Knox was thin in some areas, or at least that's what the defense has been claiming, and it would be horrible if she really didn't have anything to do with the murder. After all that would mean that two innocent people had lost their lives in all of this. But what I think is really terrible is that Amanda Knox is now a CONVICTED MURDERER. A jury found her guilty of sexually assaulting and murdering a young woman with the help of two male accomplices. And, even though she's been convicted, for some reason many articles have a semi-sympthetic feel to them. Oh, maybe she's being treated this way because she's pretty. Oh, the poor girl fell in with some bad guys, etc. Sorry, I have no sympathy. She's a convicted murderer and the one clear and unquestionable victim in all of this is Meredith Kercher. So, instead of focusing on how Amanda Knox might be a "victim" in all of this, instead of worrying about how Amanda Knox's family feels, I think we should focus on Meredith Kercher, her short life, and the small measure of comfort her family is probably feeling now that they know their daughter's murderers are behind bars.
