Just now I found an older version of Jane Eyre, then the version from 1943/44 with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine.
Here Jane looks quite beautiful. Maybe the most, from the Jane characters I saw. Also, after my memory in the book she is not so good with the piano, but great with drawing. In this movie however she actually sings a Schubert serenade. It made me remember the scene from Pride and Prejudice.
The fire happens while Rochester has guests (Blanche & co.).
Then when they left Rochester asks Jane to help him choose accessories, and fabric to decorate the house for the new lady. Really not at all like in the book, or any of the remakes I saw till now.
The ceremony of their marriage is disturbed by Rochester's wife. And Mrs. Fairfax actually knows that he has a wife! It's not just Gracepool!
