The basic idea of Toki o Kakeru Shoujo is how the high-schooler, Yoshiyama Kazuko, who gets the strange ability to travel in time. Turns out, that there is a student in their school, who came from 2660, Sogoru Ken. He invents time-leaping drug, that Kazuko smelled by accident.
They fall in love, but Ken needs to go back to the future, and erase Kazuko's memories. Still she remembers her promise to meet someone whenever she smells lavender.
The movie is more like a sequel to the real story. Kazuko is an adult now, and though an accident falls into coma. She only wakes up for enough time to tell her daughter, Akari (Naka Riisa), that she needs to meet someone in April, 1972. Akari, believing that if fulfills her mother's promise, she'll wake up again, decides to take the drug her mother invented... but she confuses the date for 1974 February.
While meeting friends from her mothers past, and even her own mother, Akari also meets with a young university student, a wannabe director, Ryota (Koide Keisuke).
...
But what can happen with a 36 year time-gap between the pair? While seeing them together the question didn't leave me. And the end made me quite sad. But it's a good movie, all smiling and laughing with the characters.
Couldn't stop thinking that Naka Riisa's tears are beautiful. She CAN act, when she wants. ^^
Also, that hair-style of Koide Keisuke, in '70s style... LOL!!! X3
