2011 winter season
For Christmas I present you with the short sums of the winter animes of 2010. ^^ The titles in bold are my recs.
EDIT: Due to my brothers complain I added some pictures to every anime... from wherever I could find some, so bear with me if they are not from the promo.
Also, every anime title is in bold now, so my recs are those that have a tag. ^^"
Beelzebub
Oga Tatsumi, a young delinquent is chosen to raise the demon king's baby son, Beelzebub, together with it's nurse, Hilda.
Cardfight!! Vanguard
The merchandise-anime of the season. As the title says, card-fight, seems like a Yu-Gi-Oh type of thing at one point, and then Digimon Frontier in the next - since they play with cards, and in the next moment they change their form to some other creature, that can do level ups...
We'll see. :)
Dragon Crisis!
Ryuuji saves a girl from the black market, and thus the girl devotes her life to him. It turns out though, that she is a dragon.
My personal thoughts: I liked Van Fanel version better. ^^
Fractale
No big help from the promo again. Boy meets girl, but girl disappears. He goes on an adventure with an avatar to find her.
Freezing
In the first moment I thought, this looks like Fate - stay night. But then the picture moved. ~~"
Scene was with a woman in thorn clothes, rain, and sweat running down her hurt body, two big holes in the wall next to her: sure signs of fighting. She collapses...
Till that it had my attention. But then all at once she stands up, with some magic her clothes are fixed, and she has a weapon in hand. Why collapse in the first place if she can do that without a snap?!?
Anyway, I know the manga. Story is how girls fight aliens and their male partners are called 'limiters', cause they limit the enemies movements. The new guy Aoi wants to be the partner of the girl with the most power, Bridgette, who didn't choose a partner till now. Her problem is, that he is really persistent, and his limitation powers are working on her too.
Gosick
. . . No, I did not spell it wrong.
New boy at school, Kujo, meeting with the brilliant Victorique, and they solve mysterious cases together... Let me write this just once: a gothic loli Sherlock Holmes!!! WHAHAHAHAHA!!! X3
Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remeber my Love
It seems like this is already the 2nd season of this story. - I somehow missed the first from this spring.
"The silver-haired girl Nyaruko-san, is actually the ancient monster god Nyarlathotep"... how I figured from the net. The promo wasn't this expansive... Though I liked the fire-haired girl. :)
Houkago no Pleiades
The new anime of Gainax is a co-production with the car-maker Subaru. Quite a big surprise by fans, but everyone seems to be looking forward to a car-anime. As for me... I had enough with eXdrive... ^^" even if it's not sure what the story will be.
Hourou Musuko
Somewhere in the past I already wrote about the manga with the same title. Given: a girl and a boy, who feel like they are born in the wrong body, one likes to dress as a boy, the other a girl. But while as a child this was seen as cute, and praised with a smile, now in pubescent it is looked down on.
It shows their problem in quite a realistic way, and I really am awed that it's bought out as anime.
IS: Infinite Stratos
IS Academy is for the students to learn how to control the Infinite Stratos weapon system. It's an all-girls school, since till now only girls could access the power to move the machines. But then a guy, Ichika appears, who somehow has the power to move IS too, and so he enrolls into the school dominated by girls.
At first I thought, Dual...! But this is simply harem, and no fun. I mean everyone knows that he is a boy, no gender-bender, or anything.
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd season
No words are needed for a Christmas-present this awesome. ^.^
Kore wa Zombie desu ka?
Kid dies... but a necromances girl saves him, and so Ayumu lives along as a zombie...
What I don't understand after some searching on the net for this story how mahou shoujo and vampire ninja are compatible with zombies. ~~"
Not even close to the level of 3x3 Eyes. Maybe Kaibutsu Oujo...
Level E
Many aliens live on Earth without anyone knowing. Now, one arrives who is perfect, no matter what he does... the only problem is that he has no memory how he got here and what he needs to do. Trouble is sure to follow.
A bit Men in Black - if you ask me.
The story is by the mangaka of Hunter x Hunter, so no surprise if you find some of the character faces familiar.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika
A mysterious, but cute animal-like creature says to accept being a magical girl... Naturally 'everyone' would say yes right away! ~~"
Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu!
New season of Mitsudomoe. Wasn't interested in the 1st, so will not watch this either.
Moshi Koukou Yakyuu no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no Management o Yondara
Or shorter said: Moshidora. I really question the titles of these new animes. This, and the next, Onichan... have both such long titles. What for, if I might ask? ~~"
Anyway, story this time is about a high-school girl, Minami, who takes over the baseball club manager job from her best friend, Yuuki when she is admitted to the hospital. But since Minami has no idea what to do as a manager, she looks for advice in a library.
... Actually after a trailer, and short preview from the net, I have absolute no idea why the business novel with the same title became popular.
Onichan no koto nanka zenzen suki janai kara ne!!
Perverted guy, her little sister who assists his fetish, and a childhood friend, who throws herself at the guy = love triangle. I don't even want to see this!!! >_<;;;
Rio: Rainbow Gate!
A casino-dealer who is said to bring luck for the chosen ones, and a child who finds her life exiting enough to hold her attention. Got annoyed by the fact that the studio shows the woman's ability like it's some magic power. I would call that cheating.
Supernatural the animation
If you know the US series, this will hold no surprise... since it's the anime version of the same story.
Starry*Sky
All-boys school becomes co-ed, and the first - and only - girl who gets enrolled is our heroine, Tsukiko.
Yes, this is a reverse harem, based on a simulation game with the same title. I think the popularity came from the many Drama CD's though. Will have to check this out. ^^
Wolverine
Surprise, surprise! Another Marvel comic comes out as anime! To make it original Logan falls in love with a Japanese woman, and when she disappears, he comes to Japan to search for her.
Yumekui Merry
This is one of the most interesting animes of the season. A boy, Yumeji, who can see other people's dreams, and a girl, Merry from the dream world.
The fact that there are many types of nightmares makes this really promising. ^^
