In basic about an otaku guy, Yamada Tsuyoshi, aka Densha Otoko (Ito Atsushi) who looks for guide and backup by a forum in his first real relationship with a beautiful girl, Aoyama Saori, aka Hermes (Ito Misaki).
Their nicks come from the way they meet: Yamada saves Saori from a drunk on the train, and she in return sends him 2 Hermes cups.
Hope that no fan takes this the wrong way, but every time this series comes up in a chat, my first line is: "Oh, the drama where Oguri Shun acts, and we only get to hear his voice in ep. 8!" ... You know it's really weird, that he doesn't have any lines before. Still, the more I see his silent character, the crazier I go when there is a scene with him. =^.^=
There is that music right by the beginning, the "domo arigatou Mr. Roboto.~..." That one is really awesome! It gets the feeling of the series right to the point! I don't know how many times I saw that, and just couldn't get enough of it! :D
Can't really call it intro though, cause it's only in the first episode... and the real intro is an animeted one, made by Gainax... I find it funny that a what... a year (or two~?) later the actual anime to the intro came out with that Mina character, called Getsumen to Heiki Mina. XD
EDIT: Ok, I looked it up. The anime is made by GONZO... But then why to I remember the intro being made by Gainax? @_@ Mystery.
Another interesting thing is how this drama is woven into other dramas. I'm sure the drunk old man plays about that time in another drama too (forgot the title though). Then there is Nukumizu Youichi, who acted in Slow Dance together with Tsumabuki Satoshi, and his character is mentioned to be on the board. :D
Ah, now that I began to re-watch Densha Otoko it makes me remember lots of stuff. Like how I gave a party, and watching the 1st episode was such a big hit, even guys liked it. XD
Also, there was this variety of the series, where they talked about Densha Otoko. They showed that in episode 2, where Yamada makes the Mina figure smell his armpit, cause he has been told that he "smells like an otaku" Ito Atsushi broke the ear of Mina off, making a damage of 400.000 yen! So in truth all the scenes after that one are with a 2nd Mina figure.
In another variety, Trivia no Izumi, they checked from 100 otakus how many would help a girl. I specially liked the 85th guy, in cosplay with skirt. He was cool! *.* And the end result wasn't bad either: 69 helped.
If we are by episode 2, than it's Pretty Woman. To make the otaku-transformation to the song of Pretty Woman... that fit in such an idiotic way! XDXDXD
Hayami Mokomichi and Ito Misaki are playing brother & sister here... though who thought they resemble in any way is a mystery to me. Also, till he meets 'Jinkama-san' (the sado haken Yamada is responsible for) he doesn't have many lines, and makes me easy forget he is in the drama at all. ~~"
