Telenovela: Salome (mexican)
OHHH, this is such a classic, if you're watching telenovelas! It has so many stereotypes, that I can't even count them! X3
Fernanda works as a cabaret dancer at the Cabaret Salon D'Rubi under the stagename Salome, together with her best friend, Karicia.
One day she meets Diego Duval, and his brother in law, Julio Montesino, and begin a passionate love affair, even though Julio is a married man. It comes as it should: Salome gets pregnant.
Lucrecia, Julio's mother is obsessed, wanting a grandson, and hearing about Salomes pregnancy she offers a deal: to move Salome into the Montesino mansion, and then give the baby to them after born.
Click to viewThis happens all to the displeasure and suffer of Angela, Julio's wife, who has an illness and thus unable to bear children. - You know this one actually hurts! Lucrecia thinks Angela would be perfect partner to his son, if she could only get pregnant! But that'll not happen, and so she turns the knife in her daugther-in-law's heart, mentioning this little fact all the time. And then, since Angela knows how much her husband wants a baby, she needs to let go of her jealousy and frustation, and even her pride, and let Julio's lover into her home. How gross is THAT!
Manola, the maid of the house cares for Angela, and is really displeased with the situation, but she can understand Salome too, and tries to help wherever she can to bring some harmony into the mansion.
Julio's father, Arturo is verry understanding about his son's situation and doesn't let a pregnant lover distrub his little world. - How nice of him, don't you think?
Salome feels betrayed by Julio, and since she can't handle Lucrecia's way of steeling her dignity, she leaves, and keeps the baby, aided by two characters: Hipolito and Piro. Piro's sister, Martha is married to Hipolito and they have two children. She is unhappy with her life, and abandons her family. Salome, using her real name, Fernanda, makes a new life for herself, escaping Mexico City, and taking Hipolito's kids with her, registering them as their own sons: Jose Julian, Jose Miguel and Jose Armando.
As the boys grow up, they decide to go to college in Mexico City, and so she is forced to move back. With quite a capital she opens a Hair & Make up salon.
Since then Angela died, and left Julio's son the majority of her large fortune, much to the displeasure of Diego. Julio couldn't stay in mourning for long, and is raising his daughter, Karla. As for work, he is the Dean of the University, that the boys attend and also a partner in a construction company. Though Mauricio, his partner, who is in love with the lovely Fernanda the lovers meet again.
Slowly they would start a relationship again, but Mauricio - mentally disturbed - causes a lot of trouble, and it only gets worse when he partners with Rebeca Santos, who is in love with Julio - and by the way makes wudu rituals!!! O_o
In the long years, after failed dance career Karicia became an alcoholic, and does low-class work for Diego Duval, who by the time owns Salon D'Rubi, and turned it into a strip joint.
Fernanda helsp Karicia turn her life around, and she begins to live in Fernanda's house. She also adopts a boy, who was taking good care of her when she was still an alcoholic.
Jose Julian falls in love with Karla - they face many problems along the way. One is that Jose Julian sleeps with Mercedes by mistake, and then she makes him believe she is pregnant... Then just as Karla forgives him it turns out that he is the real son of Julio (what a surprise! Look at the names! *hint-hint*), and so their love can never be.
Jose Armando marries Natalia, a girl with an incurable disease. She gets pregnant, what's dangerous for her, but she wants to leave a symbol of her and Jose Armando's love behind, and so takes the risk.
Jose Miguel falls for Romina, who dances at D'Rubi, and so he needs to face Romina's lies about her work (strip!).
Manola, who turns out to be the half-sister of Lucrecia begins a romance with Arturo, after he moved out of the mansion with the intent of divorce.
In this time Fernanda and Julio struggle with a lot of difficult situations.
- Julio gets into a plane crash, and for a long while isn't found, so nobody knows if he is dead or alive.
- The 3 boys get kidnapped, to kill the one who would inherit Angela's fortune.
- Attempted poisoning of Fernanda
- Murder of Julio's father, Arturo - with Salome being one of the suspects. The murder though turns out to be Diego Duval.
Diego dies, Karla turns out to be just the adopted daugther of Julio, so Jose Julian and she get married, and for last Fernanda and Julio end up together too.
What this telenovela taught me:
- evil is crazy and crazy is evil
- it's ok to spend the time at your lovers wife's for tea, while you are pregnant with his baby
- in-laws are and will always be crazy!!!
- even a bad character deserves some sympathy after getting paralized - it happens to Lucrecia and so Manola is with her to help (Oh, and if we are already by her...)
- it's OK to take your half-sisters husband, after you served her as a maid for decades
- ...but you may have been more quick about it, since his quick dead you couldn't enjoy your time together
- don't trust a nurse who talks with your lover's ex
- The question asked by men "Is it really mine?!" is totally justified
- if you want to become a dancer you either will be a striper or alcoholic.
- chibi latino guys are cute - and "dirt make-up" looks good on them X3
