Random idea of mine for a post, not sure how long I'll go on with it though. ^^"
I'll list here my thoughts on books, stories, manga etc. I read along the week.
Bring the Love
Korean web comic about the noble lady Leah and Lord Roxant. I really am charmed by the personality of both: strong and honest, responsible with a great sense of humour. Really nice. I hope they get their happy ending - because for now I'm only a few chapters in.
FFF-Class Trashero
Korean web comic again.
Kang Han Soo killed the demon king after 10 years of being summoned in the fantasy world. Looking forward to getting back to Earth he gets frustrated when he receives a report card with a personality score of F that sends him back to the beginning of the summon to redo his test again. While he kills the demon king in a shorter time by every re-summon, there doesn't seem to be an end to the circle.
Because the problem is the personality, but he doesn't understand the problem because of his personality there is no character development, but it sure is funny - at last good for my taste.
Reborn little girl won't give up
As the title indicates, it's an other world story. I think she stated in her thoughts that she was around 30 when she died... well, that doesn't show in her behaviour much. I think it's also quite annoying to read the baby- speach and then try to understand or read what she wants to mean - writer, you either want the reader to have other characters understand the main or you don't. There is an issue with the flow of the story too. In the around first 10 chapters she makes her brother and father into sis- and fathercon. Then she gets kidnapped and has a whole arc without her family till she goes back home in chapter 102, which is the end of the first arc. Haven't completely finished the 2nd arc, but the flow in retrospect to the first is so slow! Basically the main chara gets a break, she trains her magic powers, makes noble friends, eats and sleeps, and only by the last few chapters do we see an introduction into a new problem.
I could list many more things why it's not good. The answer to the question why I'm still reading and mentioning it is because I see some potential and it partly even inspires me by my own story. For example the start, being a human baby is a challenge enough, and then the father doesn't care. Making him change and care, that's the mains charm. Then all though the kidnapping she is really not giving up, finds new ways to overcome not just her adult kidnappers twice but the biggest threat for humans in this world, Hollows. For those, who don't mind the slow flow, and like cute scenes between family, it might be a good story to read.
Galactic Garbage Station
A guy who doesn't find his footing in the big city goes back to his hometown, and finds that a portal randomly opens by his house and throws garbage from fantasy stories (Journey to the West, Wall-E, Independence Day, etc.) into his yard.
If you want a simple explanation it's like a story for the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure". Because yes, our main begins to select the trash and collect what he can use. I like the main thought behind the story again. My problem here: the original story is Chinese, and many from the trash being thrown is from stories that I don't know about. Basically I could really only understand what was thrown from the stories listed above. This is not a major problem, because:
1. the writing explains what the main finds and what it's good for, so you don't need to know every story mentioned
2. the story titles are all mentioned sooner or later, so one could read back on what's missing
but it still personally bugs me - at last till I read the characters thoughts on the trash and understand what he can use it for.
