This week got a bit more busy, but while it wasn't my intention, in the end it was satisfying to finish the plans.
Monday went to Veresegyház. It's close to my town, and is famous for many things, it's women folk singing group, lakes, thermal water, and
bear farm. Our first goal were the bears. Though how I saw, there are more wolves and even more lions then bears, but it's still a nice place to visit. Even though the animals are mostly at a big place, I appreciate that I can actually see them - this is not the case by all zoos so the logistic is good. You can even feed the bears with honey if you want (though with the current weather the bees are huge problem how I see it).
Then the other thing we saw was the
educational trail by one of the lakes. The birds, mostly - what I think was - a grey heron really made our day, as it made us remember our time in Japan.
Tuesday went to Tapolca. Here we went mostly for one thing, the
Lake Cave Visitor Center, and the boating there. Really cosy. You just paddle and see the clear water, the cave is small, so the layers and formations are close to look.
Tapolca is close to the Balaton, and also to the so-called witness mountains. The name comes for being witnesses what happened millions of years ago, from a geological perspective.
We got really lucky with the weather, either it wasn't raining, or it rained while we were in the cave. In the end even got the best of it.
Thursday went to Lillafüred. This is one of the places my Mom wanted to visit. There is a big lake with an educational trail around it, and a few visitable caves. We checked the trail, the Anna cave and the waterfalls along the way. Due to the long ride, didn't have time for more.
Friday went to Visegrád with hydrofoil. Visegrád was the headquater for kings in Hungary for a long time. We went to the
Royal Palace, Ördögmalom-waterfall, and the Berényi Miklós herb garden. Between the waterfall and the garden there is a restaurant with really good food, they even have a local trout farm where you can fish your own lunch. It is quite cosy.
