I Was Here but I Disappear

8 gazillion points to you if you know what movie the title of this post comes from without googling it.  It's a really cool movie with one of my top 5 favorite soundtracks ever.

Sorry I haven't been around.  I think I mentioned that my new job has a pretty strict filter, and LJ is one of many sites I can't get to.  Incidentally, if you know of another site or Google gadget that lets you read LJ postings and/or make your own posts, please tell me about it.  I haven't been able to find anything.

My new employer is strict, but it's still a good place to work.  We've been gradually having more work to do, and that should really pick up by the end of June so we'll be pretty consistently busy.  But at least they let us bring in stuff to keep us entertained.  I read Call of the Wild yesterday.  I haven't read it in perhaps 20 years, and I remember it being good, but it's really great.  Jack London must have had dogs and spent a lot of time really watching them.  I do that with my 3, and I think he gets them perfectly.

I have some really nice people to work with, and a couple who . . . just . . . aren't the same kind of person that I am.  But that's ok, because we sit on the exact opposite ends of our department, so I really only see them during meetings or if we happen to be in the break room at the same time.

In other news, my dad turned 70 on Tuesday.  It's hard to believe.  He certainly doesn't look that old.  He seems to be doing well, though, and he gets checkups every 6 months to make sure his diabetes and blood pressure are under control.  I took him out to dinner, just the two of us.  We had a nice time.  We went to Cracker Barrel, so I bought some candy while we were there.  And some Neccos for Dad because he loves the black ones that are kind of clove flavored.  Oh, and I bought old-fashioned clove flavored gum, but I haven't tried it yet.  Cloves are yummy, though.

Um...I think that's all the news I have for now.  If you've had big news that I haven't commented on, please let me know.
