Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Jamie's very much muscular, though it's slightly fading away into a more slight build since he stopped being active in the Hunters' world.
2. How old is he? 35
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? It depends on his environment. His default is very much relaxed, but he can change that to suit what's expected in different situations.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? He's very much fit. Having spent nearly a decade working in intense physical environments, he's at the peak of health, with the exception of his right leg, which is missing below the knee.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? He walks with a very noticeable limp. He'll occasionally use a cane.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Many people he's met seem to find him attractive, though it's not something he sees himself. Every flaw is intensified to him.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Saint is lightly tanned, and scarred on various places on his body from the creatures and crazies he's fought over the years.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. Sam is dirty blonde, and his hair is most often styled in some sort of form resembling militarily close-cropped.
9. What color are his eyes? Light blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? His right leg.
11. What are his chief tension centers? His lower back. Years of constant wear of heavy armor has it pretty messed up, though few people realize this.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Jamie dresses very casually. Many consider him a roughneck, even a redneck, and it reflects in his choice of civilian clothing. Levi's, flannel, casual workshirts.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? They work well enough for him.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? No. He's a full time soldier and VALKYRIE operative. This means black suits or army uniforms.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Jock straps. He likes the feel of them. It's like he's wearing....nothing at all! Nothing at all! NOTHING AT ALL!
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Very slow in most cases, with a noticeable southern drawl. His voice is about average pitch for a man his age and nationality.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? See above.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? He has a Kentucky Southern drawl.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? He's fluent in English, German, and Dari, a dialect found in Afghanistan.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Yes. VALKYRIE taught him to affect a non-regional dialect to further mask his ability to be picked out in a crowd.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He's a great speaker, just...incapable of not cursing in many situations.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? He's a good mixture of both, though his street smarts far surpass his book smarts.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He's an excellent leader under pressure. He's been known to adapt or radically change tactics on the fly.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? He works deductively. If something even feels like it isn't right, he'll work the problem out until he has it solved.
4. What kind of education has the character had? High school diploma with various military and government training programs.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? He's an accomplished combatant and tactical thinker.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Very much extroverted. When he has feels, everyone knows about them.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He's driven when the occasion arises, though mood swings are in the norm for him.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? He's initially suspicious, but quick to warm up when he's figured out motives.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? A mixture of both.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Fight. Definitely fight.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Yes, please.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? None.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? His joining the military, being accepted into Special Forces, rising the ranks as a member of VALKYRIE, his fall from the organization, and everything since then.
14. What does he fear? Dying alone.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? To be the best in whatever's thrown his way.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Initially, it was his sexuality, but since finding Wesley Gibson, he doesn't seem to care as much as he used to.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. There is none. As soon as he moved out, he broke contact.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? Jamie's an only child.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? None.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Francine Kirby, who's a daughter/sister figure to him.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Julia Wilkinson, a former coworker in VALKYRIE.
6. Does he have other close friends? all former squadmates, none of whom he remembers.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? He's generally easy to get along with, provided you get his sense of humor.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Friends.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? He's been single his whole life, with a few important relationships here and there.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? Wesley Gibson. The relationship is new, but they're beginning to connect at levels he didn't think he could attain.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? His first crush was a boy in high school, Freddie Marks. It was never acted upon, as he lived in small town Kentucky, in the heart of the bible belt. His most current one is the man he's dating.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Someone capable of holding a conversation with. Someone who can challenge him intellectually as well as physically. A person with a sense of humor.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? He doesn't, but he's thought about the possibility.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? The things that go bump in the night.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? He's a Kinsey 5, possibly 4.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? He loves sex. It's an expression of intimacy for him, and usually doesn't bed someone unless he feels like there's more than just lust between the two.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? As a Libra, he very much fits his zodiacal role. He's often the counsel for various people, even when the advice seems obscure. He's a doer, and rarely a follower.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? The man isn't religious, even when his work encroaches the verge of religion.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? His morality's a bit skewed. If he can live with his actions, or the actions of others, he's fine with occurrences around him. It's necessary in his line of work.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? He's usually indifferent to the views of others, unless those views may bring harm to himself or the people he loves.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? He's very wary of the supernatural. This comes from his introduction to the supernatural, where his entire SF team was murdered by draugr.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? He's basically comfortable at the moment. Even retired, he pulls 100% disability from the military at the pay grade of a Master Sergeant.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? He's a roughneck, pure and simple. He and his friends are of the middle and lower class lifestyles.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? He lives alone in an apartment that is usually at least slightly dirty. It's lived-in and he's proud of the fact.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Beer. Guns. Movies. His friends.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? An advisor for TF: VALKYRIE.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? He...hasn't really explored that.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
