To Live Is To Die

High Fidelity was on Comedy Central tonight. I love it when a movie that you really like randomly appears on the television and you suddenly have a genuinely GOOD excuse to do some boob tube watchin'. That movie in particular was something I needed to see today too...just 'cause...just 'cause. There are so few movies that need no improvement whatsoever and High Fidelity is one of them. I mean, I guess someone could argue an objective fundamental thing like the lack of plot or highly developed beginning-middle-end whatever as being a shortcoming, but in actuality that is 100% the charm of the film...you know, the fact that it's the random & insightful everyday life anecdotes (most of which would be completely extraneous in most films) that really carry the whole movie and make it totally interesting/entertaining. Jack Black's part sure is a nice little bonus too. Man, I hadn't watched that movie in quite a long time either, so it was especially good. It reminds me of a better time in my life (JUST 3-4 years ago?) when I used to enjoy watching movies, and I did more reading (hardly ever do that now), and I actually had this weird desire to make money, and was excited about school and my future and all that jazz. One day it all died a death though and the ONLY thing that excites me anymore is music...for some reason...I don't know why.

Played at Borders again on Saturday night/afternoon for Fresno Unified "Teachers Weekend" this time. It's great when they invite me to do such events because I get treated like a damn king over there! They provide me with all the free food & drinks I want from the cafe and I get my own personalized 25%-off-all-store-items certificate with my name on it and everything, just like the school district faculty people. All for playing some geetar in the back corner, which more or less just scares off customers during those earlier afternoon sets when people just aren't in the mood to hear it. Trust me, it's reflected in a significant decrease in CD sales (less than half of what I normally sell) whenever I play anytime before 6:00pm. Funny how that's actually a big factor. By the way, the hot girl population on a Riverpark Saturday Night is just literally ridiculous. It never ceases to amaze me every time. How can there be SO MANY, and how can they all be SO MUCH the same?! It's almost desensitizing or something. I'm not even interested or impressed...or aroused or amused. I'm just like "what the fuck!?!?...what planet did you all come from???" I continue to think that most girls these days MUST be making early visits to Dr. 90210. It's the only explanation, because it's just not normal. I suppose Riverpark on a weekend IS quite the concentrated sample though. Still.

So...

Master of Puppets or ...And Justice For All?

...I've always leaned toward the latter...I think. Ride the Lightning I was never too sure about, but I like a couple tracks. Same with Kill 'Em All. Then there's the 90's........ Okay, black album was still pretty good, but it was the beginning of the end...for sure. I guess Metallica mostly sucks. But I'll be damned if they didn't have the potential!
