Well...I am sort of 'wowed' all around. I can honestly say that there was almost equal stupidity on both the Starline end AND the Pinkeye end. While Mr.-Starline-Manager-Guy was totally irrational and completely 'uncool' in how he dealt with something that just wasn't that big of a deal, he DID make a request and we did disregard it completely. Yeah it was a dumb request to make but at the same time it's sort of our responsibility [to other bands in town who are closely associated with us] to keep things kosher with these lame-o Fresno venue types. It was a natural point to wrap up the set anyway and that was our planned last song. It was almost 2:00am. I dunno. The guy totally sucks, no doubt...but we WERE performing on his property, or the dude he works for. I'm definitely not siding with Starline...just pointing out that there was nothing noble about the way we responded (especially somebody's "finishing touch" out back) since it didn't help anything.
Anyway...everything said, a simple warning or a reasonable chat AFTERWARDS would've been a much more appropriate/professional approach on the part of the manager, especially being that we all contributed to his venue making oodles of $$$ that night. But don't bother trying to figure out where the logic lies, since it was just anal-retentive-power-trippin'-mid-life-crisis B.S. Silly stuff. It sucks that dipshits run the best venue in town, forcing us to be somewhat at their mercy.......but what are you gonna do?
