For a change, I will compose this entry in English. It's important that I learn to switch between both languages and that was sort of my self-test for today. To think in English, to speak in French and vice-versa. So far so good.
On Thursday, myself and Martin drove to Trois-Pistoles and Rivière-du-Loup. I should mention that it was damned hot this week. Fool, it's hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It's damned hot! I saw... It's so damned hot, I saw little guys, their orange robes burst into flames. It's that hot! Do you know what I'm talkin' about? Okay, that was my Robin Williams quote for the day. So, we drove south of Rimouski following the St. Lawrence as it became more of a river and less of a Fleuve (a French term to describe where the river meets the ocean).
Friday, I slept in. Did I mention it was damned hot this week? Yeah, like 30 degrees every frigging day. I won't complain but it's just that I left wet and 10-degree Nova Scotia a week ago and didn't bring any shorts.
Originally, I'd planned to meet-up with an old friend, Francis, late last night for a beer or five. A good fellow, a bit quirky and a little on the unlucky side of life, in my opinion. You see, Francis first arrived in Halifax in 2002 as an english immersion university student. He stayed with my cousin, Janet, for about 9 months but he returned in the Fall of 2003 with two friends--Jean-Francois and Marie-Eve. They all moved into a condo and J-F of them could find jobs in accounting/finance so he returned to Québec, leaving Marie-Eve and Francis in Halifax. In January 2004, I ran into Francis again and he introduced me to Marie-Eve. The sad part was that Francis had been chasing after ME for the better part of three years but she never returned his affection... he is also a cancer survivor. He had a testicle removed in 2001 and last summer, fought another round with chemotherapy. He's a good friend and there's no bad feelings.
Francis is also the sole proprieter of Rimouski's only Drive-In movie theatre. We're going to go for a beer on Monday or Tuesday night but he works so damned late.
Anyway, I need to make an appearance somewhere. Later!
