Illness: Part Deux

Mar 22, 2005 18:46

I thought I was dying this morning. Literally. My body ached, my throat was hoarse, my nose was plugged and irritated. Every three seconds, my body temperature was either jumping five degrees or dropping five degrees. Compounded with cold chills and hot mag-MA flashes. And the phlegm. You don't want to know about the phlegm.

Convinced I was going down with meningitis or pneumonia, I almost waved the white flag. You know, it's terrifying to be breathing normally and suddenly feel as though you're just not getting enough air. Like extreme shortness of breath. But I persevered.

I hopped a taxi for the clinic and was relieved when my doctor told me I had acute inflammatory bronchitis. Which is really just medical jargon for bronchitis. How quaintly astute. Them doctors.

Tonight, I may declare 24 as having jumped the shark. We shall see. (Although, I do have a teeny bit of admiration for Kiefer Sutherland -- let's face it, he's the like the everyman-man of film).
