Excuse me....what happened to today's youth?
So, I've just completed two weeks of full internship. And I survived! A miracle! So, I will now be in the school five days a week until May 14th. I have their breaks, ect, and one class on Tuesday nights. I also will be in the jail every Monday night to work with my domestic violence group. And Tuesday and Thursdays I will be running the Nutcracker musical rehearals (I am co-directing). However...back to the youth of America....
In these first two weeks, I have had a child hide under my desk for 30 minutes, had a girl cry because someone put a "boogie" on her dress, and a kid who decided that he was angry with me. I wasn't in one day because I had to go to a district conference. So, to express his anger? He told me he was mad, then picked up the kid's chair in my office, and THREW IT ACROSS THE ROOM! Keeping in mind, this is the same kid who hid under my desk until I could talk him out. I feel like I should have him on my case load (oh yeah...he isn't even one of "my" kids!). But....I'm not sure if giving him more one on one time is really gonna be the best option.
But, seriously?!?!? A chair!!! Come on! I mean, it didn't hit me, but it came rather close. This is also the kid who broke my lamp. (I think I told Shaffe about that?) So...I don't think I'll be bored with the kids at my internship. THough my supervisor is still a major a-hole. Huzzah!
Also, on a completely different topic, my knee is still screwed up. That's right, I injured it in SEPTEMBER! And docs still don't know what's wrong with it. They think I tore my ACL, but the MRI didn't show anything "conclusive". So, I have physical therapy three times a week, and if it isn't working like it did before the injury, than I have to go and have exploritory surgery. Trust me....it is not as fun as it sounds..... So, I'm a bit nervous about it. Good thoughts please! And if anyone wants to visit....you should! You should come during the colleges spring break because I will be here all alone! I miss you all!!!!!!!
