All people that are interested are invited to my house for Festivities relating to St. Patrick's Day and having the Dogtown parade a block from my house.
The "real and only St. Patrick's Day Parade" in St. Louis is at NOON, but folks are welcome to come before to have fun and be merry before venturing out to survey the parade. I.e., do that.
RSVP on livejournal, or call 314.646.0757 or 314.541.5678.
BYOB, but if enough folks RSVP, then I'll purchase imbebements.
Come on, it'll be fun!
Even if you don't have a clue about the Ancient Order of Hibernians, if you've ever participated in the Dogtown St. Patrick's Day Parade, you should know that this is the esteemed organization that puts all the green into making the festivities happen. The 2006 version of the procession, which the Hibernians proudly proclaim is the ''real and only St. Patrick's Day Parade,'' begins at 12:30PM on Wells Drive by the St. Louis Zoo, crosses the highway and makes its way through Dogtown for about a mile. The spectacle begins early and carries on into the night, and the corned beef and cabbage connoisseurs can look to places like Pat's, Seamus McDaniel's and St. James the Greater Parish for green beer and entertainment once the Irish Clans and friends have marched their way towards Manchester Road. So, how might one come to conclude that the Dogtown shenanigans are the real deal for the St. Louis Irish? Perhaps it's because no one will question your sanity for making so merry on a Friday at noon. -- Cary Anthes
