Between 10:30 AM on Saturday and 10:30 AM this morning, I was home and awake for a total of 3 hours. That qualifies as amazing for me, folks, so don't steal my thunder.
Woke up early on Saturday morning to get ready for my trip to NYC. Got to the train station a little late and had to brave the people in front of me buying ten tickets from the automated machine, but I got my tickets and walked up to the platform just as the train arrived. Met up with Sarah in Grand Central, had lunch (soup) and headed out on the town. In some sense of particular order, we stopped in at the public library, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (by way of a walk through Central Park), and Times Square. (Am I forgetting anything?)
We ate dinner at Applebee's (on the third floor? go figure.) and then took a subway to the upper west side and a bus across Central Park to the upper east side, where Sarah's mother's friend lived. After meeting her mother and chatting for a while, I took a bus and subway back to Penn Station and caught a train back down to Linden. From the train station, Elijah and Lavon picked me up and took me directly to poker, where I finished in third place out of nine (unable to make a move for most of the game due to being forced to play conservative after my powerful straight got beaten by a full house). Got home at 2 AM and slept almost immediately.
After waking up ridiculously late, I managed to get on the road at around 2:30 up to White Plains. Spent some time at Sarah's house and ate dinner before heading to Sarah's friend's house for New Years' Eve festivities. We shot pool, talked trash over Melee, played scrabble and listened to music. In other words, we did exactly what I would have done if I hosted a New Years' party in Calhoun.
I left White Plains at around 5:30 on Monday afternoon to crash at Errol's place for the evening (thanks again, Errol). I woke at 6 AM today and headed to the Hotel Duncan, where I was able to reserve my grandparents a hotel room for all of Commencement weekend. Just shortly after 8 AM, I was on the road back home. Just shortly before 10 AM, I arrived home. And thus ended an amazing stretch of three days of travel and assorted merriment.
And now, I'm going to take a nap, because the past three days have just thrown me completely off of a normal sleep schedule, and because it's going to take some time to readjust to actually being home and not living out of my suitcase.
