His grasp frames her hips, still clumsy, unfamiliar, looks at him and knows, knows pale fingers, twined and then gone, are against his eyelids every night. He tugs her back, into the bedroom's swelling darkness; crisp hotel sheets whisper against her skin and she curls into the crook of his elbow
That is so incredibly and wonderfully beautifully written, and painful, and just GUH. I love this Sawyer, guilt-stricken and heartbroken and yet still LIVING, and this Charlotte, cognizant of everything going on in his head, cognizant of the wrongness of their situation and yet going through with it because this is all that's left. It's truly heartbreaking.
Oh, and:
It's someone else's name that drops from his lips as he slides into sleep beside her.Whose name? *cries* I almost don't want to know ( ... )

I'm so glad you thought the descriptors worked for the fic -- I thought it was maybe getting a little flowery, so I really appreciate the feedback.
Yeah, guilt-stricken and heart-broken is a pretty perfect way to describe them both, I think, or at least what I was hoping to get at -- that they both feel the people they care about and the lives they had are so far out of their reach.
Thanks again for the wonderful comments! :D

If you write gorgeous fic like this one, I'll support any crazy Lost spoiler, really!

Hahaha, well I have to say I'm glad this ended up producing more than just pointless whining, so who knows when inspiration will strike again!

*whimpers*
Is it wrong that this is exactly how I want this to go now? It's so clear that they're both completely broken and lost, but they're finding small comfort with each other.
Charlotte feels so sad and defeated here. It's raw and it hurts, but in the best way. Amazing job.

Clearly this is coming from a highly biased perspective, but this kind of scenerio is really the only sort of thing that would make me get behind the pairing; defined and united by their pain and loss.

Yes, depressing is definitely a word for it -- if the spoilers actually unravel at all in this vein, I can't really see a brighter future! Here's hoping Darlton has something a little more positive up their sleeves.

*biiiiiiig shrug* I leave it entirely up to you -- suffice to say his heart is not with Charlotte. ;D
