No, thank YOU for the awesome prompt -- it was so much fun to write, and there were so many potential options with such a great jumping-off point.

I really like using Theresa in fic, though admittedly she's more of a tool to push things along that a proper character in her own right. I've kind of always had a ... weird relationship with how to consider her in relation to Dan (and even Charlotte, in a second-hand way), so I'm really pleased you liked her inclusion here.

I think that's what I found most heart-breaking about Dan's story in canon -- that he honestly, genuinely seems to believe that right up until the moment Charlotte dies, he can save her. So I wanted to have him grapple with that, along with my own added personal theory that he already knows what's going to happen -- making it even more fruitless -- but can't quite connect all the pieces together in time.
