So, am I the only one who is livid, I mean abso- FUCKING- lutely LIVID about these new corn lobby/ manufacturers produced High Fructose Corn Syrup ("it's just like sugar, and it's ok in moderation) commercials?
I mean the only argument against HFCS they pose is "um...UMMMM...um", seriously what kind of paper tiger argument is that!!!
And that whole "It's OK in moderation" bullshit, who can you have it in moderation if it's in absolutely everything, even meat!
Here's a list of Foodstuffs that contain HFCS that I got from their propaganda-filled website:
Breakfast, Cereals Beverages Breakfast Cereals Soft Drinks Low-Carb Breakfast Cereals Fruit Drinks and Juices Instant Breakfast Drinks Snack Foods Sauces, Dressings, Marinades Saltine Crackers Worcestershire sauce Graham Crackers Oriental Low Fat Graham Sauces Crackers Salad Dressing Granola Bars Pasta Sauces Potato Chips Pretzels Syrups, Sweeteners Chocolate syrup Meat Products Cocoa Bacon Dessert Toppings Chicken Products Fish, Seafood Dairy Products Hotdogs Cheese Spreads Hams Ice Cream Fruit Butters Condiments Yogurts Mustard Flavored milks Catsup Mayonnaise Miscellaneous Foods Pickles, Pickle Products Peanut Butter Relish Jams, Jellies and Preserves Sherbets Canned Soups Tomato Paste
And as for the "it's just like sugar" crap, just because it supposedly has the same caloric value as sugar doesn't mean it's the same chemically nor does it mean the body processes it in the same way, and refined sugar's not exactly all that good for you either!
They also conveniently forget to mention 1) all the studies correlating the rise of usage of HFCS in processed foods and the rise of both obesity and Diabetes in America 2) the fact that Canada and most of Europe have already banned the use of it in foods.and 3) that HFCS is made from a type of corn used mostly for animal feed and that that type of corn (Dent # 2) is essentially inedible by humans, which to me is rather worrying to say the least.
Here are some websites I found with a bit more info and some fun vid clips:
