Something I remembered the other day (or rather, remember being told about): when I was a toddler I didn't like meat (and had some kind of reaction to cow's milk), so to make sure I got enough protein my dad invented "meat cookies". They're exactly that, cookies with meat in them. Anyway, 20 years later and I'm vegetarian and almost never have milk.
I'm certainly not "upset that my parents forced meat on me" or anything crazy like that, they were taking care of my health and I don't believe eating meat is specifically wrong. I just think it's funny that I didn't like meat as a toddler and ended up vegetarian.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'm allergic to peanuts and most other nuts so I couldn't have gotten protein that way either.
