I was worried I wasn't going to see the new Harry Potter movie at midnight on Thursday. Not really a life threatening problem, but I really love opening night crowds. It's the only time that people making noise in the theater doesn't bother the crap out of me, because they tend to be making happy noises. There's this energy and excitement that's palpable, everyone's smiling and helpful. We were told by three different strangers that we should probably get seats before getting concessions, and everyone was nice and not grumpy, even when standing in line for 20 minutes for popcorn. People were in costumes, including most of the staff. It's fun!

Even though we did send someone in, we still ended up in the front row, staring almost straight up at the movie. It was like they were all in a Paula Abdul video. I can't believe there was a time in my life, when I was very, very young, when those were the seats I wanted. Being in the front made you cool, and the adults hated it, so they'd let me sit by myself up there, and I would pretend I was really old enough to have come to the movie alone.

The movie itself was great, probably the most faithful book-to-movie interpretation out of the series. I was going to go back tonight and see it again, but things fell through and I stayed home. Probably some time this week, though.
