I love to watch "You've Got Mail" on Sundays. Today its on TBS (and Home Alone is about to come on - yes!). It really is one of my favorite movies. I'm not sure what stands out to me about it to make it so great - whether its the dialogue, the plot, the soundtrack, Meg Ryan's outfits, New York City and all the fun spots highlighted (I want to go to Gray's Papaya and get a hot dog!), Tom Hanks... - but I like to watch it. Sometimes I sit and watch it, sometimes I turn it on and do other things while it plays in the background, and sometimes I even watch it with the director's commentary... its great. Try it if you haven't yet.
This weekend has been great, filled with family and friends. I got to hold my new baby cousin (she's a little over 2 weeks old and so tiny!) and she is just the cutest thing. I love seeing my family and wish I got to see them more often. I cannot wait to get home to Knoxville for the holidays!
In other news, Maria is desperately trying to convince me to run the Chicago half-marathon in the fall - and she may be successful
http://www.chicagohalfmarathon.com/exec/chicago_half/gateway.cfm?publicationID=170 . I have to decide by January 1 if I want to do it. As I've stated earlier, Erin and I will be running several 5K's over the next few months and working our way up to a 10K (maybe the Peachtree Road Race for the highly coveted t-shirt, although its on the 4th of July - Meredith, you'd kill me, right?). My knees have been bothering me, but I'm going to get them checked out in January (I think just some leftover swimming yuck that can be fixed with some physical therapy exercises). I've always wanted to go to Chicago and I have a friend up there that has offered for me to come and visit so I might even have a place to stay. I really think I could do the half-marathon, especially with Maria right beside me (she was an excellent coach during my first 5K).
So here's the breakdown, just FYI:
5K - 3.2 miles (took over 30 minutes)
10K - 6.4 miles (would take at least an hour, if not an hour and a half)
Half marathon - 13.1 miles (takes at least 2+ hours)
Marathon - 26.2 miles (takes about 4 hours or more)
If I do the half marathon, I am going to buy either the iPod shuffle ($129 for 240 songs - plenty!) or the Nano ($200 for 500 songs). Unfortunately, my 4G 40G iPod wasn't made for running. I actually called the Apple support people to ask them why after 30 minutes of running my iPod froze - I thought mine might have a glitch or something. Apparently the hard drive on my iPod wasn't made to be jostled for that length of time and it gets really confused and thus stops. The Apple dude's advice was either stop on the side of the road to reset my iPod or buy a shuffle or nano for running because they were made for working out. I guess the latter is my only option because its really annoying and inconvenient to stop and rest. Plus, even though I talked to Maria and Alisha throughout the 5K, I really needed my music while I ran - and they were amused at my singing while I ran ("Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your boo-ty").
But does anyone know, if you own two iPods, what does that do to your iTunes? Hmmmm....
