Its so shocking!

Brace yourself for some interesting and exciting news that you never thought I would say!

I will be running my first 5K in December!!!

Yes, that's right! After running for 20 minutes yesterday, I have decided that I am ready and excited about participating in a race. I will run with Little Friend in the 18th annual Jingle Jog here in Atlanta! http://jinglejog.com/aboutus.shtml Aside from getting a quality long sleeve t-shirt, all runners put jingle bells on their shoes -- hence, the jingle jog! The Salvation Army band will play, Santa Claus will be there, and there are lots of prizes and other fun to be had!

Over the next few weeks, I will be adding time onto my runs. I know I could go for longer -- I just start walking because I'm bored. If I had other people to push me or a finish line in mind, I have no doubt I'd make it. The course that I currently run is full of hills and I think this course is relatively flat so that should help too. I think I'm at between a 9 and 10 minute mile (oh the days of my 7 minute mile are LONG past...) so I should be able to do the 5K in about 30 minutes.

Does anyone have training advice? I am going on Thursday to be professionally fitted for running shoes because one of my knees has started hurting since the purchase of my last pair. I spoke to my BodyPump instructor and she said before I went and saw an orthopedist to go and try on new shoes to see if that helps.

Shocker #2: I'm wearing my hair curly! Well, not to work, but after I get done with my evening runs and workouts, I let it dry naturally. Little Friend likes it -- we'll have to play with it some more, but this could be a new style...

Other good news: Erin and I found a local pizza place that is DIVINE! Its called Elwood's Pizza. In addition to the interior being red and other bright colors, they have booths with striped and polka dotted cushions -- have you ever heard of a place that is more me? They sell pizza by the slice -- I had their veggie slice and it was HEAVEN!!!

Erin and I also put up our Christmas tree yesterday. Its so cute! I'm also heading to Big Lots to check out their holiday decor. We want stockings for our mantle!

exercise, goals
