I got my grades....and I got A's!!!! yay!
Ok, well over all I would give it a 6/10. I went to a midnight premeire with my boyfriend, and some friends. There were tons of people there. Ran into some friends from school and all sat together, so that was fun. Also went to this great mexican restaurant afterwards cause it is the best place open at 2:30 am. So the experience as a whole was very fun.
I liked how they opened the movie with Prof. X and um, Magneto (real name here?) going to ask Jean to come to Xavier's school. They did a scarily good job of making them look younger. I initially thought I liked the scene with little Angel as well, but then he wasn't really in the movie very much, so in retrospect it seemed kind of dumb.
Liked the stuff with beast, and him trying to be all diplomatic.
Ok, so then the scene where Jean comes back. As a non-comic reader, I found this a little confusing. It had been a while, right? I mean, this wasn't just, "she survived" it was, "she came back to life" right? Because last time I checked, surviving in a "telekenetic cocoon" (the way Prof. X explained it) doesn't make your hair grow to your waist, turn it maroon, and put you in a new outfit that happens to match your new hair. But I heard that in the comics it was more of a reincarnation, and if so, I think they did a good job of showing that.
Also confusing was: did scott shooting the water cause her to come back, or would she have come back anyways? if anyone could clarify this, please do.
Now, I think that she killed scott unintentionally. That her powers went haywire with the emotion of being reunited with him, and they were just so strong they killed him.
Ok, so onto the dreaded Jean in the hospital scene. Prof. X's line about how she survived was cheesy by consensus of all my friends. After he leaves and she wakes up, I was a little confused as to why she was suddenly wanting Logan when she didn't before. I mean, obviously the sane part of her still loved Scott, so I guess they were just saying her subconcious wanted Logan? But overall I thought they showed that Logan realized she didn't really want him, she was just acting on some animal instincts or something. I dunno, that was an odd scene.
So, my favorite scene in the whole movie was the scene where Jean kills Prof. X. She looked absolutely scared out of her mind. The clothes they had her in, her posture while she was sitting, and then again the way she was standing. So powerful, but so scared. I also really liked how Magneto was shown to still consider Charles a very close friend the whole entire time. He didn't want him to have to die. Interesting dynamic having your ultimate goodie and the big baddie be best buds.
Note: Wolverine and Storm crying together in the scene where the professor dies should make all you shippers happy :) There is also another scene where there is some tension b/t those two, but they are talking about Jean so it's ruined.
After that, I didn't really like anything until the scene where Wolverine kills Jean. I thought the kitty/Iceman stuff was dumb. I thought Rogue taking the cure was dumb. I thought gambit not existing was dumb. Angel was hardly in the movie at all. Which is a shame, cause he was very, ahem, attractive.
I shall leave you with my brothers review: Some one comments: It was a little unclear to me what exactly Jean's power was. My brother: Apparently is was unleashing some sort of digital graphics package on people.
