Hello everybody!
- I have begun work on an H/Hr editorial, but it may be a while yet. I am going to try and make it a multimedia presentation, with analysis, video, and images. It is looking as though it will be headed in a little different direction than I previously thought. I will most likely give an analysis only of the text (i.e. no interviews), although I may briefly address the Mirror of Erised question. But it is shaping up quite nicely, and should be done before school starts.
- I have just finished Speaker for the Dead and am halfway through Xenocide. Are there any other Orson Scott Card fans out there? If so, could you point me to some communities?
- Jon Stewart kills me dead. My new favorite quote from him: "THAT IS ARBITRARILY TERRIFYING!" He was refering to the rapture alert level on some crazy website, because all the major news networks were running stories about the end of the world and whatnot. Silly news networks talking about the apocalypse. Don't you people remember that the rapture happened in 2000? And what do you know...we are all still here!
Note: I mean no disrespect to the christians on my f-list. I'm a christian too. I just thought it was funny.
- If he grants his permission, I may post an essay my brother wrote. It is a fine peice of comedy as well as insightful analysis.
- Hm...there's been a little too much fandom drama for my liking lately. JKR should stop coming out in public, and so should Emerson. Although, Jon Stewart introducting JKR was a nice little bright spot.
- Real Life: Booked an officiant for my wedding. She is great. She critiqued Ryan's undergraduate thesis, and we were both very impressed with her. I also picked out a cake, which is very yummy in addition to being pretty! Here is a poor quality pic, on which I had to change the color:
Well, thats about it for other stuff. On to the graphics!
I have lacked inspiration lately, so I'm taking requests in this post! Here's How:
1) Post the link to the image you would like me to use, or describe what you would like the picture to be of. For any fandom other than HP (and any ship other than HHR) it is probably best to link to the pic.
2) Indicate the dimensions (in pixels) you would like the art to have
3) Describe any other details you would like such as colors, text, or lighting
4) Feel free to request any ship, any fandom!
5) You can request Icons, Wallpapers, Headers/Banners, whatever!
This is a tutorial for the coloring on a lot of the icons I posted today! This tutorial works best on pictures that are fairly colorful to begin with, or, on more monochromatic pictures it produces a monochromatic blue hues look. This technique was used on all but one of "the word" icons below, as well as most of the new HP icons.
Start with an icon sized cropped cap:
Make a new layer, set it to Difference Mode, 14% and fill it with
This will take you from
to
merge layers
Next, Make a new layer and set it to exclusion, 14% and fill it with
This will take you from
to
merge layers
Repeat the above step (another layer set to exclusion at 14% with the blue fill)
this will take you from
to
merge layers
I use PSP, not Adobe PS, so this part may vary depending on the pic you use. In PSP there is an automatic contrast enhancer. If there is a similar funtion in Adobe that I was unable to locate, use that instead.
this will take you from
to
then add tiny text or a light spot or whatever you wish!
If you use the tutorial, post your results in teh comments, I'd like to see them!
