Peter and The Observers
One of the mysteries more interesting on Fringe for me is the Peter/The Observers connection. So i've made a picspam about this hoping that in season 3 we will know something more ;)
1x04 The Arrival
PETER: Who the hell are you? What is the cylinder? You know what it is, don't you? (starting to have his thoughts read)
SEPTEMBER: (mimics) You know what it is, don't you?
PETER/SEPTEMBER: (synchronized) Why is it here?
PETER/SEPTEMBER: Why now?
PETER/SEPTEMBER: Who are you?
SEPTEMBER/PETER: Apples, bananas, rhinoceros.
SEPTEMBER/PETER: I want to hold your hand.
SEPTEMBER/PETER: Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
SEPTEMBER: (preempts) Do you really know my father?... Did you talk to him this afternoon? …Are you his friend?
(this scene cracks me up everytime :lol:)
WALTER: Do you remember the night of the accident when you were young? - I was driving…
PETER: Of course, I remember.
WALTER: Your mother was at home.
PETER: Of course, I remember. Thanksgiving dinner.
WALTER: She was anxious for us to get there, join everyone. When the car went off the road, the ice was so thick that it held the vehicle for what must have been two minutes.
PETER: What does this have to do with what happened today?
WALTER: I regained consciousness, I saw your body... contorted horribly, and I reached for you. But the ice broke. And we sank into that dark water.
PETER: And then you swam to shore and saved us both. I know.
WALTER: No. I was unable to control my limbs in that icy water. It wouldn't respond. I was incapable of saving you, or myself. We were dead, Peter, you and I. Until someone grabbed me. And we were going up. We were saved, both of us, by a man that I had never met. A man that shouldn't have been there at all. He pulled us to the shore. I remembered that he was bald, that he had no eyebrows. And as he set us down in the snow, I recalled his stare, standing there in his suit soaking wet, seemingly indifferent to the cold. It was as if he knew my thoughts before I did. As if he were inside my head. Without speaking, he made it clear that he would need me one day. A return favor, so to speak. And this is it. Today, what happened with the capsule, I'm not sure how I know about the vibrations, the composition. But then when I tested it myself, heard the vibrations, felt them, it was as if an envelope had been opened and I could finally read my instructions. Instantly, I knew that I had to protect the capsule for him. Who they are, what they want - as a man of science, I share your frustration in not having these answers. But what I know is that you are sitting here now... my son... alive. I know you must think me insane.
PETER: Not nearly as much as you might think.
(like always Walter told him part of the truth..even if i think that at this point Walter didn't remember everything so probably he wasn't really lie to him. This episode however made us see for the first time that The Observers are connected in some ways to the Bishop family.)
2x08 August
(This scene was SO important for me. August gave him the gun like he knew that he was able to use it. And i totally think that Peter is the only one beside the Observers to be capable of use it.)
PETER: When did you see The Observer? And why didn't you tell me?
WALTER: What do you mean? I just did tell you.
PETER: That's not good enough. We are so close. I can't let these guys get away again. They have the answers. I know they do.
WALTER: Don't worry Son. You will get your answer.
(like always Walter knew something more that he said and i don't know if you notice but Peter is always so desperate to find answers when the Observers are on the picture. He's like that only with them like he knew deep inside him that they are important FOR him.August was also a wonderful episode that made me cry.)
2x16 Peter
SEPTEMBER: I have made... a mistake.
DECEMBER: So I've heard. What were you doing in the lab?
SEPTEMBER: Doctor Bishop was on the verge of developing a cure for the boy. It was an important moment. He discovered me. There was no other way to witness the moment.
AUGUST: You have changed the future. You have created a new set of probabilities.
SEPTEMBER: But you must agree the moment was significant. The boy is significant.
DECEMBER: You need to take action to restore balance.
SEPTEMBER: How?
AUGUST: You will have an opportunity to fix this.
(Ok so..Walternate and September clearly knows each other..it seems to me that September was there to know the progress about the cure for Peter. And Peter was important to the Observers even before Walter took him.)
(Walter of course September saved both of you on Thanksgiving after a car accident :P)
WALTER/SEPTEMBER: Who are you?
WALTER: You're the man I saw... in the lab...
WALTER/SEPTEMBER: (simultaneously) On the other side.
SEPTEMBER: Your friend and the one who was injured, they left to seek medical attention. He won't live much longer. You must fix him. Your lab is six miles from here. Can you drive?
WALTER: I think so. Why... why did you save us?
SEPTEMBER: The boy is important. He has to live.
2x20 Brown Betty
SEPTEMBER: The Boy has not returned, and I do not believe Doctor Bishop remembers my warning. Yes, I am concerned too.
2x22 Over There
WALTER: I think this is what I'm supposed to remember.
OLIVIA: Okay. Well, one of those men -- you know, the Observers -- I think he left it for me.
WALTER: Well, after I brought Peter from the other side, some years later, one of them came to visit me. Well -- well, he told me that I had to agree to never let Peter return to the other side.
OLIVIA: Why?
WALTER: Well.. because if I did, this would happen.
OLIVIA: Okay, but what is this, Walter? What does it even mean?
WALTER: Look, look, it is exactly what it happens to be. See? I think my son... is going to be responsible for the end of the world.
(My Theory: i don't think that Peter was important to destroy one world...i think he supposed to save both of them, but Walternate for revenge has built that machine and The Observers were worried that Peter would have been used for evil plans instead for his true purpose.)
There are so much things to discover still. Like why Peter is important? Why the Observers kind of protect him and look after him? Who are the Observers? Like i've said before i hope that we will know more things in season 3 ;)
