Well, I had family in town starting last Wednesday up until yesterday afternoon. It was all fine. My brother-in-law and sister came down on Friday. He is into recording and playing music so we busted out folk-instruments and made some wacky recordings with banjo, mandolin and guitar. It was fun.
Memorial day we went into the Coyote Hills and caught lizards. It was fun. Then all family was gone. I decided that since the night was open we should go see Star Wars III as per we hadn't seen it yet. If you want to know what I thought of it, look
.
Everyone kept telling me that this movie was not near as bad as Phantom Menace, and that it was even better than Clone Wars (the movie). People were saying that it was actually good and that Lucas gets violent in this one. Yes, Lucas did get violent, but that didn't make up for any of that crappy dialogue. It was absolutely horrible in places. The best parts of the movie were when the Jedi were getting mowed down because it had no dialogue to screw it up.
And what is up with Portman losing the will to live? Could Lucas have written a worse piece of crap for that part of the story? What was wrong with Vader's choke added to the efforts of child birth killing her? It would have been so much better. Lucas has become Anakin Skywalker in that he has let power go to his head and he has killed off the thing he loves.
Another thing that I am not a big fan of is too much CG. Especially when you have those rubber-suit aliens standing next to a CG alien. All too often some alien or droid was CG when it could have been a model and looked like something real rather than a pixalated image next to something real. Maybe people think that CG stuff looks more real and I am the one who is wrong here. Either way, I don't like it.
The best part of going to see Star Wars III was that this kid from DeVry named Aaron was there. We were looking for four seats (as per there were four of us) and my wife spotted four empties up in the corner. I looked up and noticed that they would have been right next to Aaron. Then we spotted four right by where we were standing as per someone got up so we took those seats. After the movie I left the theater and I heard someone calling out down the hall repeatedly "Remember the dialogue in Episode VI." As I stepped into the bathroom I turned to see where my wife was and noticed that it was Aaron calling down the hall to anyone who would listen apparently. When I came back out my wife and father-in-law informed me that he had started telling anyone that would listen that things in this movie contradicted things in Episode VI.
Awesome. He was of course gone, so I didn't get the chance to hear what he was saying. I'm still not sure I would have spoken with him though. Everyone at DeVry has warned me that if I speak to him he will latch on to me. I don't think I'm ready for that right now.
Anyways...
(Does anyone know why Live Journal thinks that
"dialogue" is a mis-spelling?)
