My Dad bought me a used incident meter not so long ago and I've been using it a lot. Yes, the meter on my camera should look fine but in walking around town, it's nice not always having to look through a viewfinder. I always shifted the exposure 2 steps for more exposure but I decided to just go by the light meter readings for a while. I've realized that I don't like overexposing my photos and then compensating after. So I think I'm going to be composing with less exposure from now on.

And I'm also pleased with how some of the Jack photos turned out with less (regular) exposure.

When I return from my trip, I really want to get a spot meter, so I can just take readings of specific points all day and start understanding light and composition better.
