Been a long time
Ever since I got married back in 2007, my FFXI play time has dwindled to almost nothing.
Long story short, I had thought I worked out a nice schedule with my wife where certain days we would spend time together where I would be off the game, and other days I would get my game time in. Nice thought, but the arrangement was short lived.
So in order to make my marriage work, I had to give up on the game for a while. I was literally down to maybe playing a total of 10 hrs a week at best doing random stuff like Nyzul static and Dynamis. I wasn't ready to quit the game though.
Fast forward to today. Since about May of this year, I was able increase my play time little by little, but a lot has changed, and I wanted to pick up my LJ again so I can some what keep track of what I've been doing on this game again.
Here is a quick laundry list of things that's of interest since 2007 as well as things I would like to do in the future.
- Economy seems to have taken a big dive but is now stabilized.
- Lots of server transfer to Valefor, some with entire linkshell of people trying to take over the HNM scene.
- Assault Static disbanded. It was bound to happen sooner or later. People keep coming and going from our Static. Eventually, Kakarot and I got tired of replace members only to find out they got want they wanted and they quit.
- Nudawn finally disbanded. I was still in it to almost the very last days, and was still trying to do Dynamis with NDA. However, the LS raid times pretty much moved entirely to east coast hours, I decided to have my shell broken because I felt like I couldn't contribute anything to the LS beyond weekend Dynamis, and frankly, logging on at night on my westcoast hours and seeing 2 or 3 people in the LS was just depressing. Nudawn broke apart a few weeks after I left anyway, so I don't feel bad leaving when I did.
- Since leaving Nudawn, I've been flying solo for a while. I was able to complete my Maat's Cap finally. Cruising through pretty much all the Maat fights except for BST (1 for 3) and SMN (1 for 2). Did I mention I suck at pet jobs? Getting the Maat's Cap was a big load off my shoulder. I was really pressuring myself in completing this since it has been personal goal for a long long time. Now I can finally sit back and enjoy exping at the pace I want to and on the jobs I want to level it on.
- Fishing. Really enjoying this now. Currently as of today, I'm at 99.5. I finally decided to get off my ass and got the Fisherman's Apron on 10/20/2009. Now I'm just slowly getting guild points to get the "Serpent Rumor" so I could begin my Ebisu Rod quest. My plan is to not have to buy an Fish for the quest, and instead earn through fishing the actual fish. Not sure how long that will last though. During this down time, I've also completely another Lu Shang's Rod quest on my mule so I can have at least 2 Lu's with me while fishing on the boat, so I don't waste time fixing the rod during the boat ride.
- Dynamis. Since NDA disbanded I've been just joining Shouted Dynamis runs. None really showed any good return on my time investment due to the way lotting rules work and my very very poor lotting streak. However, recently after talking to Eticket, I decided to give his Dynamis 'static' a try. It's a small group of good players and they have a very different approach to lotting than the shouted runs. So far so good, even without the attendance needed I was still able to win some AF that I've been after for a long time. The only bang-head-on-wall moment for me was on my 2nd run, not understand their lotting tier system fully yet, I had a winning lot on the Rdm AF2 hat, only to find out I had to pass because I was not qualify to lot yet. Other than that, I think I've found a good home for Dynamis.
- For the future, I know I still want to do some End-Game events, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that type of commitment just yet. In the immediate future, I'm going to try and find myself another assault static, and/or a Linkshell that focus on Limbus and Einherjar only. I think that type timed limited based events bast suits my play schedule right now.
- I also need to get off my ass and get stuff done in the Past zones. So far beyond doing the dnc and sch quest, I've not done jack. I need to get that done soon, and when Talel and Chindy returns to the game, we are planning on blowing through the ACP missions together and get our head and body piece.
