Normally I pretty much have given up on posting my EXP party experiences, but with the recent new release merits, party invites is almost none existant for my monk

Theres a cap at 3 per ability. So yeah you would have to place 3 in Chivalry and then use the other 3 somehow.
Also for BRD I've heard that lvl 1 Dirge is only -3 enmity which is hardly anything really for a prolonged fight. Yeah -9 is pretty good when you cap Dirge but I don't think 1 merit in it is really all that great. Although with the other choices in abilities, its probably better than wasting merits capping the semi-useful JA's.
Also I'm suprised MNK isn't getting that many invites for you. I guess not being 75 and in burn pt's kinda hurts for MNK invites but I'm still a bit suprised that you've had trouble as usually people look for MNK's and WAR's first on my server for invites. I'm trying to decide between MNK and WAR right now and even though its a different server I hate hearing things like that for the next job I might take up.
The only issue I have with monk is that the full DD potential comes almost right at 51, the moment you get Kick attack, and Double attack at 50. Monks stay strong all the way through 75, which most DD don't become that strong until the late 60's.
So my theory about monk is that:
1. Monk don't make decent SC until 61. 2. If a tank make the party, the like to keep their illusion of being able to hold hate, but not inviting a monk. 3. If a DD makes the party, they like to keep their illusion of being the best DD in the party.
So far I've been keep track of what Job invite me to parties, and they are: Monks, BLM, BLU, and BRDs. Those jobs seems to like monks, because the perfer not to pull hate themselves. I do make my own party sometimes though.
That's why I actually decided on the opposite :o Putting 2 in Sirvente for 10% reduction of hate shed and 3 in Dirge for -9 enmity. I figured that I'd use Dirge more often than I'd use Sirvente. Having been playing around with the 1 merit versions of each this supposition was borne out.
I honestly, was thinking about this as well. Sirvente just doesn't seem like its something I would ever use with consistancy. Granted I don't do HNM anymore, but even when I was at every single one of them, it was always Ballad/BalladII for the tank party. Maybe if I had a Gjall... I could afford to not give the Paladin's that extra 1 mp/tick, but honestly or the ninja's not have both March's. I just don't see it otherwise. Paladin, has been given a bevy of new ways to create and keep enmity, and Ninja have never had any bad issues in the past

Understandably on the Bard Song choice. But back to the old arguement of what bard song is truely useful besides ballad for pld and march for nin.. none.
But.. Foe Sirvente, for larger HNMs in terms of counter balancing their Mobs Hate Reset moves, or just flat out putting a new/fresh tank into a fight w/o any hate. This song will be much more usefull than a one tic MP refresh or the a few % of haste. I think this will surely help tanks get a sticky situation back in control easier.
Also, my reason for thinking the -enmity not being as important is because we use to good old /shutdown reset hate method.
For low numbers fights like off-hours Tiamats, I'd rather mages not get hate and have to log in the first place, and any song on the tank that can help him recover hate faster after a roar/death etc is a boon but not quite as essential. I tried Troub and hated it, even at a 15 min recast. 20m recast on Nightingale is enough to cover the odd sticky link in Dynamis, so I decided to pump up the songs as much as I could.
Troubadour does increase the duration of Lullaby ^^/ It's also great for prolonging soul voice songs. Soul Voice -> March/Min/Ballad/Ballad -> Nightingale + Troubadour -> March/Min/Ballad/Ballad = about 1.5 times the normal lenght of Soul Voice sung songs. I got it originally when it hadn't been discovered the text was wrong and so far I've found plenty of times where I've used it. Great for keeping up the ends of long chains too, when you may have to run a little way to find a new mob, so you can just not sing a couple of rounds.
I'll be darned. I could swear it used to, since I used to hate watching MP tick to 3 right when it wore. That may be enough to justify switching my 1 merit in Nightingale to Troub, but -5m recast really doesn't touch me in the same place as the enmity etudes are to jusify capping.
lol I was just logging in to check too (and was stuck doing the update)! because I realised I hadn't actually specifically *checked* for it, but had always assumed it was like that. I'm glad we sorted that out; sorry to make you run around like a madman again, hehe ^^;
As for my merits, I've pretty much put one each into Troub and Nightingale, but I'm torn as to whether to max them out (good for meriting, which I do a lot of) or add a couple in for the +enmity song (though the arguments here for putting them into the -enmity song are also good... especially after seeing Fafnir gobble up our blm after he MB'd the other day).
