Last Night in Jotrevia

May 05, 2006 22:35

My time as an undergraduate is rapidly coming to an end. Here are some of my thoughts at 10:36 PM Eastern Time, the night before commencement:

1. I'm not feeling a particular saddness at leaving my room. I wasn't sad painting it back or packing my belongings. Perhaps I'll be more emotional tomorrow when I hand back the key, but right now I'm not terribly affected. Perhaps this means I'm ready to move on.

2. I toured the Bryan House today! For those of you who do not know, Bryan House is a house smack dab in the middle of campus where the president lives. Although I had heard the president lives there, I was still unsure about it because I've never really seen much activity in the house except for cars driving to it. Today I was able to tour the ground floor because they opened it up to graduates for the senior send-off. It was really nice because President Herbert and his wife stood in the entryway, greeting everyone and even posed for pictures. So, Dad took a photo of me and mom next to Adam Herbert. Of course, I'm in jeans and a t-shirt and Herbert is in a suit, but still, nice. I was also afraid Dad would take forever to take the photo (like he always does), but luckily he didn't.

3. I'm going to miss Sean. We've been Arthur buddies since the middle of freshman year and have become closer this semester. At least he's from Fort Wayne, so we'll be able to see each over during the summer.

4. I'll also miss tv nights with Dev. Now I'll have nobody to watch "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" with (yes, I'm ending the sentence with a prepositition). Macri's Deli dinners were fun, too.

5. I'll definitely miss the college student schedule. No more Fridays off. :-(

6. Of course, I'll miss the APO people. They've become such a staple in my life; I could always count on seeing them each Sunday night.
