Woooo!

This has been one helluva week (and I mean that in a good way).

Tuesday afternoon, my photojournalism teacher emailed me, asking if I wanted to have lunch with Peter Turnley on Friday (today). Peter Turnley is a world-renowned photojournalist from Fort Wayne and is in town working on a book. He spoke to our class Tuesday morning, too. I told Chris that I'd take him up for that offer.

Then, when I returned home from my Tuesday night class, I had another email from Chris. He said Peter needed help cataloging his photographs for his book and told me to give Peter a call if I was interested. Not only would I get to interact with Peter, but I would also get paid!

I met with Peter on Wednesday afternoon to learn about the cataloging system and worked for about an hour. Today I spent nearly 4 hours cataloging pictures and have about 20 rolls left. These are photographs Peter and his twin brother, David, took in Fort Wayne 30 years ago. When we walked to the IMU tonight, Peter said he'll need to get my last name so he can recognize me in his book (yay!).

Peter's very nice and down-to-earth. Today's lunch was small but good (only 3 other students were there, plus my photography instructor). Peter also critiqued our photographs after we ate. He said I have a good eye and complimented me on my composition and said one photograph was creative.

The good news doesn't stop there (surprised face!). When I got home tonight, I had an email from Kevin, my editor this summer. He said they were talking about the coverage about the upcoming Harry Potter movie, and Linda Austin, the executive editor suggested that I write a review. Kevin said I could do that over Thanksgiving break or via email from Bloomington. Either way my ticket will be paid for, and I might receive a freelancing fee (hurrah!). It was nice that they thought of me to write a review. I emailed Kevin and told him that I'd love to write a review. So, tonight I'm going to Showplace West to purchase a ticket.

Huzzah!
