Theres alot to be said about cliche/general statements.
We hear the statement. It is a new and novel thought. We add this new perspective into our lives.
After some experience, we find things just aren't that simple. The statement cannot possibly account for all the complexity.
Finally, after much more experience, we understand where the statement comes from. We may have even misunderstood the implications behind the statement in the first place. It may not account for the complexity, but it is the theme from which all the complexity flows from.
