Ah, yes...when he cuts his finger with Narsil...I about jumped out of my seat when he said that the first time I saw the movie in theatres...of course, the thing that made me decide to give the books and the movies a try back in 2001 was because I saw him in the previews. :-)

I'm glad you finally got to enjoy that scene...better late than never! I'll confess, though, that when Boromir died, I about stood up in the theatre and shouted, "Sharpe can't die!!"

I have *tried* to read the books, but like Dune I just don't get very far with them.

I know! I'd forgotten that he died (i know, i know) and I was so shocked - I was sure Boromir was in all the films!

Note to self: Pay more attention to what you watch.

If you count the Extended Editions, he is in all three, though in the last two films he's only in flashbacks.

The books can certainly be a chore to read at times, but the sheer beauty of the story is what keeps them tops on my all-time favourites.
