Mike found us a manager. Apparently, during their initial meeting, she was very careful to let him know that she was NOT in the band management business just to have a lot of casual sex with her clients. After hearing that, I told him we should keep looking.
Anyway, she emailed the band these questions to answer about themselves, and since I wrote more for her questions today than I have on LJ in months, I thought I'd let everyone in the e-world know just what I'm all about these days. ;)
What makes you different?
-Musically, I'm devoted to enhancing the holistic product for each piece. My effort goes toward augmenting Mike's vision for the songs, rather than overly promoting myself and my instrument.
-Personally, I'm just like anyone else you'd meet in Seattle, but with more awesome socks.
How can you describe your uniqueness in 3 words?
Lighthearted, heavy-handed, purple.
Who are your influences/who do you sound most like?
Influenced by: Basie, Debussy, Mozart, Gershwin, that old-timey piano guy who does slapstick while playing, Ella F, the Diva Dance from Fifth Element.
Sounds like: What does a Sun Bear sound like? Well, when I was hiking by myself in Alaska, I scared off a grizzly by singing the Star-Spangled Banner at it. Also, my fellow 8th grade choir members tried to insult me by saying I sounded like Sarah Brightman. Unfortunately for them, I love her voice so I wasn't insulted.
Where do you want to go with this (music)?
Maybe to Ellensburg.
As you can see, I have no idea how to promote myself to a manager. If you have any tips, let me know.
The highlight of my day off so far has been remembering my favorite quote ever!
Paula: What were you saying?
Brendon: Move the flowers.
Paula: Before that.
Brendon: Uh, this meatloaf is dry.
Paula: No, before that.
Brendon: This is meatloaf?
Paula: Before that.
Brendon: This fish is dry.
